I think I found this out a while ago, I wonder why the villagers act surprised when you throw beans at them. I think it'd be funny if they got out some beans of their own and started throwing them at you ahaha. But then again animal crossing wouldn't be so family friendly any more.

I found that out as soon as I got the throwing beans, haha. Now I don't have to use the net to scare them away, and even then there's sometimes when you can't scare them away because they're too far away, so I use the throwing beans, lol. I also use them on my villagers because it's funny how they react.

it's an item sold in the Japanese version of the game (in the Nooks' store) for the annual Setsubun Festival (which i think is in February). if you don't have a Japanese version of the game, then you would need to do some trading with someone to obtain the item. that's also when the red and blue ogre masks are available in the Japanese game.
