I would like to trade and giveaway some of my villagers but I'm so afraid of the glitch happening that I am staying away from all that until they get it squared away.

Just curious - who else is waiting for this to get fixed before they trade? In the meantime, I'll be island hopping to get my villagers or scanning via amiibos.

As long as the villager had the cloud over their head, and you told them to move, it should be fine! I just gave someone a villager that way recently.

It's booting villagers out by scanning in amiibos and replacing them that causes the glitches.

I thought I had read that people were still experiencing problems, even if they ask to move out naturally.

Also, yes, I am waiting until it's fixed to do any trading.... -sigh-. I don't want to wreck anyone's town. I have a villager I am looking to trade away.

Maybe that is the case, maybe people are still having issues with natural moves... but I tried it once and it worked, so I suppose I got lucky it didn't glitch out!

Can confirm that you can still glitch even with a natural move, a lot of people are fine but I'm here with a glitched plot and no Chief until the game is patched!

Moving them out naturally causes the glitch too. A lot of my friends have been lucky with the villagers I gave them, but two of my friends weren't so lucky and got the glitch from me :( I'm waiting for a fix before I adopt Zucker from a friend since she doesn't have the amiibo card, but my friends are willing to take the risk as long as I have the amiibo card of the villagers they want lol

I'm really hoping Nintendo is hard at work coming up with a fix for this. It's really too bad that it's still unsafe to trade villagers

The Amiibo-specific glitch was "patched." "Patched" in quotations because it possibly introduced this new glitch which affects every villager and is exacerbated because it can be spread through the void. Here's a document for more info.

No one has figured out why it's so random and why some people get it and others don't. No one really knows what is a bug and what is a feature regarding the void, villagers moving in and out, etc.

Yeah, this really sucks. It's been such a long time now too and it's not even been really addressed.

I'm one of those waiting for these bugs to be addressed before I continue trading / selling villagers. I wound up closing my selling thread since a few of my villagers bugged on people.

I have Dom on my island and my bf has Judy on his island - we're basically sitting on these two villagers until they patch the bugs so they won't glitch on anyone.

I've traded with 1 friend, otherwise I am too scared.

Really need Nintendo to get their act together and patch these glitches. While I'm really enjoying the game, these issues are causing me anxiety because villager trading is such a core, integral function of the game.

The multilayered irony here... many of us are playing this game to escape a pandemic, yet there's a glitch spreading like wildfire in our AC towns causing major problems to our beloved villagers that in many cases are, as a result of the glitch, disappearing from our towns.

I'm hoping it will be patched so I can use my amiibo for good and make a cycling thread for New Horizons.

I had a town specifically for cycling in New Leaf, but sadly due to the "one console, one island" setup I cannot do that this time around...

BUT

I think this time I only will have 9 dreamies. Leaving my 10th plot open to cycle villagers in and out within a few days via amiibo (since I dont TT.)

Sadly, it is just a pipe dream til everything is patched. Especially since a pretty well known current problem is if the same plot is used again and again like I'd be doing...
(Yes, it can happen with even completely natural things now. Just same plot recycling is just asking for trouble rn)

I traded for Zucker yesterday.
He's in my town today unpacking.
I'm hoping and praying that when I load my game tomorrow, he'll be fine.

I really wanted to wait for the bug to be fixed but he was offered to me at such a good price and is my favorite villager of all time.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

It really does suck about all the glitching though. In some way, the amiibo glitch was better because, at least, we were sure where it was coming from.
With the current one, it doesn't seem to be known what triggers it.

Anyway, if all is okay with Zucker, I will not be trading anymore until this is addressed - not even for items.

me too as well. i don't have amiibos, but i closed my pop-up shop since i didn't want anyone getting any glitched voided villagers

I've read that moving them out naturally via the bubbles can glitch as well. More reason for me not to touch the adopting method with a 10 foot pole. :(

i have done two villager trades (one w me buying, the other selling), but have since stopped completely. won't be doing any more trading until it gets patched. i have a few amiibos to scan in but what's most irritating is that i have had to avoid trading for items and such on days with empty plots/villagers in boxes since it seems the void is involved in the glitch and i don't want to pick anyone up from someone's town during the move in phase.

Me D: though the only villager I have that people would probably want is Sherb. In fact, I would probably just let him go to the void than giving or selling him to someone else just incase the glitch happens. >.<

I think for the time being I am probably waiting for a patch to come out. I did move out one villager but no one came to adopt. I also did get a villager from another player's void but they assured me it was natural and so far there has been no issues. It has been around 5 days I think, so I'm in the clear I believe. I hope my villager didn't glitch anyone if she went through the void to someone's island.
