Whitney didn't know why she decided to visit this small town. It was barely beginning compared to the bustling city she lived in. Many of her friends had said in the past this place never had much to offer until one day Fang sent her a letter. He said the town had new spirits and high hopes once more. He said it would grow into something beautiful like the getaway places he saw in the travel books he sent her. She knew to take Fang seriously; he was typically grouchy about the town and had claimed in the letter before he would move soon. So why did he want to stay now? She came to investigate.
The town hadn't changed much, if at all. Re-tail still had only poor little Reese working with Cyrus sleeping away. There weren't many villagers, only 7. Main street was nothing big as well, only having a shoe and garden shop open. She did take note of Lloid sitting around with a rope barrier around him. When she asked him why he was there, he claimed that the mayor requested to get a water well built. It was only when she met with with Fang at the cliff where a modern bench now sat did she find out why he was keen on staying.
"We have a new mayor." Fang spoke, joy and hope lacing his deep voice. The two wolves stared out to the sunset before them. "She's really the best this place could have. She came by chance, everyone was about to give up. She was reluctant at first, but she's really stepped up to the job." He mused to Whitney. She let a small smile grace her features as she hummed.
"As a person, not a mayor, what is she like?" Whitney asked, curious at the reply she would receive.
"She's lovely to be around; really brightens up your day. She gets on with all of us and does everything she can to make us happy. Everyone says that I'm the one she's closest with." A deep chuckle sounded from his throat.
"She sounds... nice." Whitney replied.
"Her passion resides in flowers." Fang told her. It was like a light bulb went off for Whitney as she finally realized why Fang wanted to stay. Now that she took a closer look; the land was clear of rubbish and instead trees of many fruits had grown and flowers of all types and colours flourished in the bright green grass.
"All of those... she grew them, didn't she?" Whitney asked. Fang nodded and got off the bench, helping the female wolf off.
"I'm sure we can find her. I bet I know where she is." Fang told her, grinning. Whitney resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the male before her as he lead her away.
So that's what lead her to this moment. She stood a little ways off in an area of purple roses, her favourite. Fang had wandered over to a human girl who wore clothes for gardening, brown glasses and a beret that sat neatly on her head. A watering can was in hand and her blue eyes sparkled in delight. The human girl happily followed Fang back over to Whitney and white wolf couldn't help but smile.
"Hello there! I'm Miku!" The girl introduced herself, sticking out a hand for the wolf to shake. Whitney smiled and shook her hand.
"Sorry if I'm interrupting your work. I mostly came by to visit Fang for the day. He sent me such a charming letter about your town, I had to come see what made him stay." Whitney replied, keeping her poise and air of perfection. First impressions meant everything. She took notice of the purple roses once more. This caught the young mayor's eye and the human bent down and plucked one off the grass, minding the thorns and holding it out to Whitney.
"You like purple roses, right? I do too. I love these roses the most." The young mayor chirped. Whitney took the flower, minding the thorns herself and tucked it behind her ear. The young mayor's smiled widened, "You look gorgeous! The rose really compliments your outfit." She complimented. Whitney looked between the human, the roses and her old friend.
"Say, you wouldn't have space for another villager, would you? Maybe some space at the back of the rose field here?" Whitney asked.
"Of course! I have plenty of space. If you come with me now, we can mark out your home and I'll make sure it's surrounded by purple roses by the time you move in!" The mayor said happily. Whitney smiled as the girl took Fang's paw in one hand and her own paw in the other, leading the two through the field.
"Welcome to our family, Whitney!" The young mayor shouted to the sky, making Fang release his deep chuckle once more and even made Whitney giggle.
"Thank you, Mayor... no, Miku." Whitney replied.
Whitney wasn't quite sure again as to what lead her to this town. But she had to admit, this place grew on her more and more each day. Granted, she normally wouldn't have glanced at this place twice. But, she got to watch it grow and become more popular. Villagers came and went, campers too. She watched Mayor Miku grow on her role even more and direct this town in the right way. But Whitney had picked up a habit from spending too much time with Miku. The small town of Konoha was not a town to her...
"Whatcha' thinking about Whit?" Miku's voice rang in the wolf's ears as the human sat beneath the apple tree next to Whitney's house that overlooked the field of purple roses. No, this town wasn't a town to her anymore, it was...
"Oh, you know," Whitney began, "Just thinking about my family."
