Which villager species is the best at Desert Island Escape?

I would say the ones with Hearty Traveler ability, such as horses or Sahara, and Soft-Footed, such as deer and ducks, and finally bears with Honey Hunter ability. It depends on the map that you want to pick suitable species in order to get targeted scores. But most of the time, I have 2 Hearty Travelers and 1 Soft-Footed and I always achieve targeted score with them. Or you can go 2 Hearty Travelers and 1 bear, etc. I think you may need a bear on every map when you reach the advanced levels. I finished all of the levels with targeted scores with these three main species (:

Whimsy, no contest. Sure it's a 66.6% chance to move at all, but ya can figure out how to land on the chance to move. They have the best hunger, sight, and movement range on top of already impressive stats in combat.
The only slight weakness might be just pitfalls, but that's not sayin' much.

I like the Deer for the Soft-Footed ability, but personally, I like the Cat ability best. When Kabuki was on my team with Julian and Merengue (god that was a bad group), I didn't hurt for food at ALL because of his ability to catch fish with no rod, and to catch a LOT of fish with one.

I think the dogs are the best. Since they can smell everything around them, you can skip the spaces that would injure you. Like fights or pitfalls. The only bad part is that they can only move 3 spaces.

The best 3 I've used so far are an eagle, a deer, and a dog.
My first move is always the dog so I can have an idea of what's around them then I'll be able to decide where to go for the next turn.

Depends on what difficulty you're playing as well. Honestly in the beginner levels most anything goes, but having a hearty traveler or two is always nice. Lone Wolf is pretty nice for breezing through the earlier levels too.

Once you get to advanced though, the Honey Hunters are GOAT. If I'm not going 2 ostriches and one cub I'm going two ostriches and a deer :P
