Which order do you visit rooms in dream towns or streetpasses?

I am asking this because I am trying to set up my mayor's house (Sly from Sly Cooper) so that a majority of people will go through his house in the same order the ancestor is meet in the Thieves in Time game with Sly being the main room, then Rioichi, Tennessee Kid, Bob, Sir Galleth, and then Salim al-Kupar. In addition, is there any way to help the flow so that it encourages people to go through the rooms in a particular order?

R = Right / M = Middle / L = Left / U = Upstairs / D = Downstairs
<_/_> = Switches

  • R, M, L, U, D = 3
  • L, M, R, U, D = 3
  • <L/M>, L, U, D = 1
  • L, M, R, D, U = 1
  • U, L, R, M, D = 1
  • M, L, R, U, D = 1
  • L, R, M, U, D = 1
  • R, M, L, D, U = 1

  • Number Lamps = 1
  • Furniture Location = 1

For houses, I explore the main room first, then the right, back, left, upstairs then the basement. I just do this so I know what rooms I've already been in.

In one Japanese dream town where the house told a story, they used the main room as the begining -since you always enter that room first- then used the spotlight item numbered lamps put next to each room to tell the person which room to go in to. This way the person don't go in the wrong room and the story isn't told right.

I usually start with the main room, obviously, then I go to the left room, the back room, and the right room. Next I go upstairs and finish with the basement.

The number lamps is a nice idea if you really need to make sure people go in the right order, but it could take away from the mood of your main room.

I will occasionally deviate from my pattern if the main room is really crowded. I'll take the path of least resistance first. So if you can organize the furniture in a way that forces people to go a particular that would help.

Left or middle first (followed by the other), right, down, up.

Thanks for the answers so far, and I did like the idea of the number lamps. However, I was a little bit worried about the lamps being a little detracting from the mood/appearance of Sly's room as I was going for a little bit of a modern but dim (as in not well lit) appearance.

Most of the time, I go upstairs first, then left, right, middle and afterwards downstairs.

Left, Middle, Right, Up, Down

I will typically visit rooms later if there is something purposefully covering the door to some extent.

I got into the habit of main floor first from right to left, then upstairs, then basement.
This is what I do each time I have a villager visit as well, because I found that if I showed them each room just briefly even, then when we got to the basement they would always say thank you for having me over, but gotta go. Parting that way always seemed more fulfilling then just walking out the door and seeing that shocked look on their face, like I have just insulted them beyond redemption.

Make a pathway from the plaza straight to the character you want first then there make it to the second character and so on.

I'm not talking from character to character but within the house of the character. Thanks for the help though.

Hmmm, Seems like I need to work on the main floor before I work on the upstairs and then downstairs. As for the order on the main floor, I suppose I might need to find a way to work it out. I might try to make a portrait of each ancestor then put a number in the corner of it to help guide.

Left Room, Right Room, Back Room, Upstairs, Downstairs.

I used to go downstairs first though, I don't know why I stopped.

If it's a full house, I'll visit the left, top room, right and up and down room.

It literally never occurred to me to just leave my house to get rid of them--I thought they only way was to talk to them in each room!

Anyway I show villagers main, right, back, left, up, down, main; or main, right, back, left, down, up, main. I don't usually go in houses in dreamtowns, I mostly visit them for the badges and I tend to run around outside destroying flowers before going back to my town.

1) Main Room
2) Back Room
3) Left Room
4) Right Room
5) Second Floor
6) Basement

I established that pattern as a routine to make sure I visited all rooms. So, it wasn?t the specific order that mattered. It was that I organized myself to make sure to take them all in.
