Ok, whaddaya think? Luigi's Mansion (Gamecube) VS. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon (3DS)

Which game is superior and why?

I kind of feel like both have their benefits. The one thing that I wanted in Dark Moon was just "Explore this mansion when you beat all the missions."

Luigi's Mansion of the Gamecube was more superior.

For the whole thing of non repeated bosses and the fact said ghosts and bosses were actual residents of the Mansion.

It's great, they just didn't put as much effort into Luigi's Mansion 2/Dark Moon, Don't get me wrong, Dark Moon's a great game.

Ya one thing I loved about the 1st was the free-roam aspect of it. Good point.

I loved the "residents of the mansion" vibe! Really added some more life to each of the ghosts! :D

I'm gonna give the ever-so-slight edge to the one for the gamecube for the very same reasons others have mentioned, more of a free-roam exploration, and ghosts have more individual personalities to them. Other than that, both great games!!

Both are terrific games, but the first one has elements that makes it just a little bit better (in my own opinion of course) overall.

Love them both but i miss catching a family of ghosts, all in different rooms hm
Each mansion should have had a new family

I had to give my vote to the first game. Though I enjoy both. My reasons:

-I preferred the ghosts in the first game. Not just the resident ghosts, but the common ghosts as well. While the ghosts in Dark Moon had interesting abilities and personalities, they looked terrible to me.
-I loved the graphic style in the first game. I think Luigi's Mansion was one of the most beautifully rendered games on the GameCube. Everything looked really neat and nice. I'm not sure what it is about Dark Moon, but I just don't love the way it looks as much as I did the first game. Maybe the colors are just brighter.
-I hate how each area has level based sections. It really yanks you out of the immersion when each time you go to the location, you go and do one thing and then come back to Gadd's residence. It's like there's no real threat and Luigi's just doing a few chores for him.
-I really REALLY hate how Mario is trapped in a painting again. Jesus, Mario. It's bad enough a regular game mook got the drop on you the first time. Why on earth are you needing saved in THIS game too? Couldn't Luigi just get the pieces of the Dark Moon and have that be the main motivation? There is no reason for Mario to have to take part in the game again. |:

Ya, after playing Dark Moon for about a week now, I'm 100% convinced the first is better.

I keep finding myself disappointed in the way Dark Moon is set up...missions? C'mon. The ghosts are pretty lame too...repetitive and no unique personalities :[ But I will say, the Dark/light thing is cool. Liked the way the flashlight was in the first one though.

I also like the Boos, gems, and capture-scoring (gold, silver, bronze photos) more exciting. Omg and the MICE! So lame in Dark Moon! In the first game, they meant something! Finding the cheese wedges with the Gameboy Horror was so exciting! You catch that gold mouse and BAM money galore!

Dark Moon is fun...but I am so unbelievably underwhelmed by it LOL. Probably going to trade it in for Mario Kart or put it towards my GTAV.

Awesome posts, everyone!
