The golden watering can just lets you make gold roses, which you could probably get from someone else. The golden slingshot comes in handy when shooting down presents and Gulliver's UFO, but it's not that hard to shoot down things with a regular or silver slingshot. The golden fishing rod and golden net are great, but in order to get them you need to catch all the fish and bugs, so there's little use for them once you get them. The golden shovel is very useful for planting trees, so it's great for starting orchards. The golden axe is invaluable. Chopping down trees is vital, and you can't rely on regular axes. That said, the golden shovel and golden axe are the best of them all.

The shovel it allows you to plant trees whenever you want with 100 bells. That and the golden axe are the only real useful golden items (my opinion).
