If you could have a new game from any franchise, but it can't just be a straight up sequel or remake, what would it be?

What got me thinking about this is the criticism of the new Pokemon Legends game. There's so much desire for a Pokemon game that's more challenging, and offers a different recipe than the games they pump out every year.

So.... which franchise would you pick and what spin would you put on the new game?

I loved the original Dragon Age and how your decisions have the impact on the events in the game and ending (I’d say all Dragon Age but I have criticism for II and Inquisition gameplay wise; don’t have system for no one but not going to get), so I’d love more games that did something similar. Shadow Hearts and Covenant both had different endings but those were much different. I think maybe a Persona game. Personally I’d like kinda a remake of 5 since I’m still wishing in Royale
there was a way to save Akechi; also the tease in the dialogue where he asks Joker if he would want to join him, makes me wonder how different the story would be and if Joker could have influenced Akechi to change his goals.
.

Final fantasy might be nice with dialogue choices and different endings.

Genshin Impact except not as a gacha game with choices, consequences and different endings. I don’t like a lot of what Traveler does and would love to have the option to act differently, choose sides, and have some other options that could impact the plot. Some dialogue telling Paimon to stop being rude would also be nice. Have maybe some sort of talent tree that could impact story or something, skill levels for things like diplomacy, weapon skills, and other things that the game currently seems to make Traveller “good” at. So if her diplomacy skills are low, outcome for certain archon quests could result in outcome b instead of what happened in the game or game over or something. Also, maybe has some scenarios where no matter skill level, Traveller does not save the day since they have a mary sue problem where she can save everyone and is good at everything.

Pokemon: I was talking to a friend a couple weeks ago. We both were talking about how it’d be fun if Pokemon could have something that were maybe less directed at kids. Like I’d love to be able to pick to play as an adult for once. I still would like game corner to be in the game; I played Red as a kid and I knew how to separate video game from reality; it didn’t involve microtransactions either way. Maybe have a plot that covers some realistic aspect of life like injustices and revolutions to change to challenge them; or something like gives you a glimpse of past characters like Lt. Surge and his background along with other original Pokemon characters. Ofc, both of us know this isn’t going to ever happen since they seem so focused on making it “child friendly.”

Dinosaur King Game:
Dinosaur King was a kid animation show, where we travel with the trio characters; they find specific tablets that connected with dinosaur cards can summon dinosaurs. Throughout the world dino cards are lost and get released and cause chaos; so they go and use their own dino compansions to fight dinos. There is also an evil team that want also get all the dino cards, and tablets for evil.

The DS game was similar to the show, except for the fact that when we fight against the bad teams dinos, we use a rock, paper & scissor battle mode; which is interesting for sure. But I would've loved to use the elemental cards that we had in the show for battle. (They also had specific elements on the tablets and elemental moves, most Triceratops cards were electric based for example)

So, for a new game it would be more fun to use the dinos with better battle modes, using element cards. Maybe it be sute to have the dinos follow us around like in Pokemon? And maybe less rock, paper and scissors since that's a different battle mode than the cartoon.
(Now I think we did get some sort of element moves, but a lot different to the cartoon...)

Pokemon:
I feel like with how long the frandise has been, we really need game that different options to start the game.
What I mean is that when choosing story mode, choosing to be either:

A child - (who is just about to start their adventure)
Young Adult - (who never got the chance to go on a normal trainer adventure, been working, and only now getting the chance to explore the world)
Middle aged to older adult - (Who already had an adventure, plans to do it again or has a completely different agender to why their story mode starts)

Depending on what you choose, the story mode is different. (Once you complete the story mode of your chosen age, you can also do the other modes or activties the other modes do; to allow people to still get into playing more after story mode)
Depending on the age you choose, changes how much money you get after each battle. (Unless you have the amulet coin) Kids shouldn't be able to get so much money, or get given pocket money (Jhoto mum reverse), while the young adult gets more money.

Choose the:

Child - focuses more on battling gyms, maybe add ranks or something. A kid shouldn't the one to go to when a huge team is trying to end the world.
Young Adult - Definitely going against the team who wants to end the world, because that affects you and everything you love! Definitely after the fact you finally get the chance to explore the world, and these people are affecting it.
Middle aged / Older adult - This one is maybe harder to think an idea of, Other than the idea that you are the one people go to for help and run errands. Maybe learning a new battle format. Seeing what was different, and we get flashbacks to what things used to be each place they go to?

I also think if you choose the young adult, or Middle aged; you get a completely random pokemon as your companion. Young adults having simple pokemon (I remember a timblr post stating a young adult character should have pokemon that connect to their hard working life, something easy to look after, like a small cat pokemon, trubbish, I was thinking Kelfi the key pokemon, or like cacnea because we choose easy looking plants to look after etc) something like that. Think back to pokemon yellow where we get Pikachu who follows us around.

Another Pokemon Idea:
Completely different, but I would really love a Legends Celebi story; but we get to use Celebi's powers to be able to travel back to the old Jhoto, and into the future for specific reasons that can help in each era. If that makes sense. I just want games that connect better to those specific legenadaries we never got to explerience properly, like Celebi, Jirachi etc without the use of internet items back in th day. (Still mad I cant get them >,<)
