Getting all of your dreamies and tossing out the villagers you don't like?
-or-
Going with the flow and just getting random villagers?

Getting dreamies and tossing out ones I don't like is great.

Personally I just enjoy getting randomly-chosen villagers. For one thing I don't enjoy time travelling, it just ruins the feel of the game for me. And secondly, it's much more fun to see who I get each time!
Everyone has their own ways of playing the game though, because if everyone played it the same way, it wouldn't be fun anymore.

going with the follow and just getting random villagers is cool... but i try to get at least on dreamie! i like a change

I try to get my dreamies, but I don't time travel or like paying ridiculous amounts of bells for a villager. So most of the time, I actually just comb the villager trading threads and find one I've never had before in a giveaway thread and I usually like them fine. The worst that happen is I don't like them, right :D

I like getting dreamies but I also like some of the villagers that just randomly moved in, so I keep a mix of them in my town. :)

I enjoy getting my dreamies but sometimes seeing someone who you like who isn't on your dreamie list appear at your campsite, for example, is really quite exciting. I haven't got all my dreamies (I've got all but one), so I think my last spot is just going to be for any random villager until I'm able to get them. So I'm in no rush. (*^-^*)

So I've restarted and now I have a lot of villagers that I don't want. Though I would much rather prefer my dreamies, I'm perfectly fine with having villagers that are temporary.

Im actually half and half. I like going with the flow on who I get by random. I fall in love with them. But if I do get that "odd" villager I don't like, or my friends gives me a villager I like, I kick one of my villagers out.

I went with the flow for a bit and then started focusing on getting dreamies. After about a month of taking random move ins, I was really sick of all the ugly villagers I was getting so I started getting every villager I moved in from other people. Even if I couldn't find a dreamy, I'd find a villager I at least liked a bit and keep them temporarily.

I Like a mixture of both! I only have a few dreamies so I usually get them, and then for the others i just take what available :)

I like getting my dreamies, but I don't do time travelling and I don't really try to get the other villagers out. When they move I'm happy, but I'm not using the tricks to get them out.

I like to let random villagers come and go, but at some points I will tent reset until I get someone I want. You don't have to TT in order to get your dreamies, some people are just impatient.

I had New Leaf for about half a year before I started looking at Animal Crossing forums so I used to just go with the flow because I assumed having some villagers you liked more than others was just part of the experience (and I as always happy to have someone new move in anyway), then I found out that people actively sought out their fave villagers, had cycling towns, time travelled etc... and now I have 2 towns, 19/20 of my dreamies, and I'm always TT'ing.

Part of me feel like I've ruined the fun of the game a little (like when you start IV training on Pokemon), but most of me doesn't care and just wants 2 perfect towns :P
