Where to Start????

I recently just got a copy of new leaf (im late to the party, I know). Anyway, I always see these beautiful, intricate towns that are planned out to every square and im just wondering..... WHERE DO I START? I built two bridges but those are the only PWP's ive done so far because I dont know what to do.......

don’t go too crazy about how your town looks. enjoy the game! just make sure that you don’t place any PWPs in stupid areas (like in front of your house or in an area you won’t be able to landscape).

once you’re settled and think you can put playtime into decorating your town, plan where you want things to be. you can use PWPs, plants, and more to create nice areas in your town like a park. some PWPs need to be suggested by villagers, though.

if you really want to get into landscaping right now, i’d recommend looking at guides online, collecting bush starts, saplings, flowers and hybrid flowers, and plenty of bells for PWPs. think of some villagers you’d want in your town, too.

you can get necessary plants in the Re-Tail section and villagers in the Villager Trading Plaza. you can also trade your TBT (forum currency, they are the “Bells” displayed under your username) for IGB (in-game bells, the ones you have in animal crossing).
200,000igb=1tbt, so it’s a fast way. it is best if you earn bells yourself, though. buying too much here will probably take away the fun of the game. if you are need of bells, though, you can always get them here.

My suggestion would find a path design you like, or just draw one yourself, and start to place your roads down.
Start from your house or somewhere, connect your house to the station, shops, villagers houses, beach etc.
It will help in planning where to place your trees, bushes, buildings and stuff. Don't worry too much about public projects, they will come as you play the game.

Do not worry about your town. Abandon your town and start your own ventures! Complete your museum, collect all the gold tools, and breed flowers. Do not forget to place your town to beautiful ordinance. Your town does not matter right now because that is something you deal with end game. I would suggest focus on one villager you like to build a great relationship from and then find items you like and use that as a goal to get.

It'll come to you overtime! Like the people above said, explore and have fun with the game! Don't gotta get straight to designing it. Get into the swing of things first and what you want to do will definitely come to you!!

the beautiful town ordinance is helpful because then your flowers don't die even if you don't have to water them every day

if you build a campsite, villagers will visit you and you can invite them into your town if you have room

i have two towns and the thing i've learned best about them is that even if you plan for something it may not happen and you will enjoy the game more if you can go with the flow rather than getting upset if an ugly villager moves in or a favorite villager moves out

I would say a good place to start is the beautiful town ordinance, you will be so grateful to do this, even if you don't get the 'perfect' town you always wanted. Making sure your animals are satisfied is also a good place to start, as you won't have to worry about them leaving. I always put my house first, making it the biggest possible, before moving onto pwp's. The way I got my town so beautiful before (before my game died) was I cut down all my tree's. I put my pwp's down after this. I made path's of bushes, and put flowers inside of them before cutting them off with the last bush, so I couldn't run into the patches of flowers. Putting customized tiles down around the bushes and flowers. I would say find a list of things that will most likely be the best for you, and not necessarily the fastest. Animal crossing is by no means a fast game, definitely have to take it day by day, it took me 7 months!

Dont forget to use the beaches to store flowers, and breed them! This is a vital tip, as animals will not usually water them, and you will prevent yourself from running on them. They also will have more room to breed into the colors you want, rather than randomly breeding themselves.

All the above is good advice and I try to focus on smaller areas too. Like each week I just work on getting things like trees, flowers and bushes set up around 1 house, building or pwp.
