Where should I place my cafe?

The only villager that's staying in my town is the house on the top left (Chief). I'd like to get the cafe placed now, but idk where to put it..I wanted it to go on that little area to the top left of the plaza, but Isabelle says there no room. It's either too close to the plaza, or too close to the river Ahhh.

For where you want it near the plaza:

Stand directly at the river's edge and move down six "tiles", and make sure there are three tiles free on either side of you. If those requirements are met, it should let you build the Cafe. If six tiles down doesn't work, try again but with 7 tiles.

Well, Isabelle is really finicky with Public Works Projects being placed around the Plaza, Even if there is a lot of room between the project and plaza tiles. I'm assuming it is strictly because each plaza is uniquely shaped, so there is some kind of invisible ring that we can't infiltrate LOL

You can find out said shape by digging around the edge of it. Where you are able to dig is where you need the extra space before Isabelle will let you build anything.

I’d agree to trying what Khaelis said above. If that ends up not working, I’d say try this spot I marked (it could be like a seaside cafe).

I also agree with MorinoKirii, if it doesn't work out on the top portion that area seems nice for the Cafe.
OR
Maybe try placing it behind the town hall by the bridge, I am sure you'd have to rebuild the bridge and put it some where else to make it fit.

What I would probably do if this were my town is put it on the right side of the bottom waterfall. Since your house and The Roost are very similar in size, I think it would make a beautiful symmetry.

I was kinda thinking that too!! But, Lollys house is in the way atm, I might wait til she moves & see if it'll fit there. I'm going to retry the area by the plaza, too! Hopefully I can find a spot for it haha

Hopefully my tip helps! As long as there are no rocks in the area you want it, it *should* fit. The issue lies with Isabelle being super finicky and vague on the space requirements. If you're having trouble, I could possible come to your town and 'drop' an item where I *think* it should allow you to plot the Cafe as a last resort.

I like MorinoKirii's suggestion of the seaside caf? if you aren't able to get it between the plaza and the river. fwiw it definitely looks like you'd be able to, it just might take a bit of finessing. I second the suggestion to just dig up the area with your shovel and count the spaces yourself before ruling it out as a possible location.

I really like to have the cafe nestled in a neighborhood which I think could definitely work for you since you only have one permanent villager atm. I have two neighborhoods in my town but you could do more or less all according to your preference. The top left corner would definitely work well and I prefer to have big buildings more departed from everything else but i?m just weird anyway

Go into the town hall and ask Isabelle to demolish a public works project. Your town map will show up on the top screen instead of the bottom. You don't have to actually demolish anything.

Assuming Chief is the only permanent villager:

1. That little peninsula south of Town plaza near the beach.
2. South of town plaza on the left side near the bridge.
3. Northwest near the train station.
3. Left side beach near the ramp.
5. South of train station near the bridge.

Below the pond on the right side of the map! I agree that the spot where you were originally planning on placing your cafe looked really ideal! But sadly the game doesn't let you plot PWPs anywhere near the town plaza.
