I have a similar layout and my house is right by the waterfall that goes into the ocean:

With a bridge directly to the left of that spot, you can be to Main Street in no time.

I think you should place your house underneath the waterfall, like Ras said.

I think what they suggested is a great idea. Your map is, imo, ambitious. It has advantages, but I am such a LOUSY town planner (in other words, I can't plan for carp) that I wonder how you'll place your PWP's. Winding rivers sort of scare me about PWP placement. But they are GREAT for beauty and fishing, especially when so much runs N to S.
