When will bugs start appearing?

Don't the bugs and stuff start appearing on the 1st march?
The snow goes today, but I think all the winter bugs and fish stay until the end of February, then the Spring bugs and fish, including butterflies, start appearing at the beginning of March.
Or at least that's how it was in the early games, I haven't seen any new bugs yet this morning so I assume the same goes for New Leaf.
