When do perfect fruit trees die?

So lately I've been busy expanding my perfect cherry orchard. I knew the trees could die and I've seen 1 die before, giving me 2 perfect fruit and 1 rotten.
After some searching I have not been able to find out after how many times of harvesting they die. Thonky and similiar sites said after several times, but that is a bit vague.
Does anyone know if there is a set amount of harvesting after which they die or does it happen randomly within a certain range, like between the 3rd~5th time for example?

People say after the 3rd time but one when i shook oneit died when it gave me a rottenorange

It's totally random. I used to shake some of mine 3-5 times, so I think it's any number beyond 2-3.

The minimum is 3 I believe, but I've got a few that are on their 6th harvest (When i started perfect fruit planting for example). If it dies, just dig out the stump and put back in another perfect fruit. Nothing lost.

Haha I know what you mean! Sometimes I'll be afraid to even shake the trees in case they die!

Mine always die on the 3rd (yay! I love the number 3)

I think it's any number of times between 3 and 7

It is random. I have one set of trees and I don't replant until they're all dead. I would say most of them die on the 3rd harvest, then usually 2-3 on the 4th, 1 on the 5th. Never had one go to the 6th. I let them all sit until they're all dead and then replant the whole orchard.
