I like going island hopping, not just for villagers but also for resources. I'm a walking ecological disaster that completely depletes the resources of any mystery island I encounter.

During those trips, I noticed that at certain points I've just looked at an island and wanted to go home again. Perhaps these mystery islands are evolving a defense against resource depletion? Anyway, on my last few island hopping sprees I noticed a few islands I hadn't seen before. The first one was great, filled to the brim with trees and even had more than 4 palm trees on the beaches.

The other made me weep with despair: It was in no shape or form a suitable island to quickly plunder. It was three tiered, it had a river starting at the top of the cliff and then flowing down like hot chocolate of a layered cake, dividing the island into all sorts of tiny parts separated by river and cliffs. A lot of climbing and pole-vaulting later I did succeed in depleting all resources, but it took me a lot more time than an 'usual' island.

I really like mystery islands that are flat or almost flat, that require little climing and pole vaulting to get everywhere. The curly river island is my favorite, just chop all the trees while working to the inside, then switch to a shovel and work your way back to the dock, it's so quick and easy. I also love the sister fruit island since I don't have to worry about checking for the wasp before starting to chop down trees.

Do you have a favorite mystery island, and if so, why is that your favorite?

My favorites would be the hardwood islands because I liked how it's built; a very dense forest full of beetles. I kept hearing a strange noise and was so confused but found out it was the walking stick being scared off.

I also liked trash island (although wouldn't want it necessarily again) but found it humorous.

It depends what my goal is when I'm visiting an island!

For money making, I got the scorpion + gold nugget island before and that was cool for obvious reasons! Flick just happened to be at my island too, so I made a nice amount of bells!

If I'm hunting for villagers, my favourite is what appears to be both Short River Islands according to the wiki! I like it because you get to have a feel for what the island is offering, and then the villager is even more of a surprise because they're just slightly hidden, but still visible enough to check quickly if you're interested in them or not! It makes the hunt more exciting.

If I'm visiting an island for no real purpose or goal in mind, my favourites are either the islands with lots of pine trees or sister fruit island. I can take all the pine trees home, or collect all the cherries to sell.

RIP hybrid / butterfly island! I was fortunate enough to visit it once (before we all really knew all the types of islands) and brought home lots of emporer butterflies and blue pansies! It's a real shame they removed it.

Other fruit island (oranges in my case) as I don't have a lot of fruit trees so I like to stock up when I end up there.

If I'm hunting expensive bugs, then I like bamboo island as it's easy to adapt to only having coconut trees or removing everything for scorpion/tarantula spawns.

I liked hybrid island back in the day, but I don't miss it now. It was very useful in the beginning, but once you have your own hybrids it became a bit pointless. Sucks for newcomers though. They should really sell special Nook Miles tickets for destination islands.

My favourite mystery island for me is the one that has Judy on it. (My apologies for the crude reply. Honestly, my luck with island hopping is terrible at the moment. I just want to make fun of my misery somewhere in this forum.)

I actually really like bamboo island. Something about just a flat island with bamboo stalks sticking up from it sounds relaxing.

Plus I usually meet some of my want villagers on there. I think it was Beau who I got first from there.

I don’t like Mystery Island.

I only go now when I am islander-hunting in hopes of coming across any of the new “New Horizons” islanders. (I succeeded with Cyd.)

What I tend to gain, most times, from Mystery Island is getting bamboo and bamboo trees. (I think this is true for many people.)

I really loved hybrid island when it was available. It was just so beautiful! I only plucked the flowers there because I wanted to grow hybrids myself.

I like seeing sister fruit island.

I've never been on big fish or tree island yet. Hopefully I'll see them one day!

Mine is the regular islands, because they're simple enough to gather lots of resources, such as already grown trees, and a great way to earn money for instance.

There are 5 common islands, but my favorite one has to be the one where there's one waterfall and it flows to the right side. Thankfully that mystery island is too common that I'm able to cheese it by chopping all the trees except for the palm trees while leaving at least one in the Summer Months, Chop all the trees in the Month of March only, and scare all the river fish in hopes of finding Sturgeon to make a quick buck on them.

I use to really like the hybrid island with the big pond in the middle (and hybrid flowers surrounding) it because it was really magical and beautiful. Sadly Nintendo took that away :(, so now I suppose I like big fish island the best because of the unique landscape and exciting money opportunity.

I never encountered an island of hybrids.

I made a mistake of not going when others did—and they benefited. (Which was lucky, in a way, and smart.)

I regretted this because I never got blue roses on my own. I eventually gave up. At least one fellow Bell Tree Forums member helped me. And I received help here, as well, with green mums. (Very much appreciated.)

My favourite island is "Rugged tree island" just because I like the look of it the most. I never got to see hybrid island for myself but it looks beautiful in pictures!
