Shake a lot of perfect fruit trees, selling items that I don't need, selling balloon items, the rocks, and much more.

If you don't want to wifi with anyone at all, then beetle hunting on the island at night is the fastest way, I think.
If you don't have a problem with wifi-ing, then it's villager selling and turnip speculating that will get you the fastest (and most) buck. But you have to have some patience with turnips as it can take a while to sell in someone's town.

tbh beetle hunting and shark catching is the best way for me, since i don't sell villagers. filling up the basket, i make about 500k each time.
turnips are also a great way to make money fast but it can also be quite tense, frustrating, time consuming. a lot of nice people will let everyone know if they have high turnip prices, but there can be lulls too if you don't manage to catch it so it can be a gamble at times.

I used to beetle grind. Then I did turnips for a while. Now I just sell hybrids. It's a steady stream of bells and I don't have to worry about waking up on time to buy turnips then finding a town to sell them in.
I can honestly say I make my biggest profit my selling fruits in my own town, it doesn't take long, and with the new ability to stack up to 9 in one slot, it's more efficient and time-cost worthy now than ever. Filling up 2 rows of inventory with fruits is a guaranteed 30-40k minimum for me (not talking about plain native fruit though). It doesn't take very long to do it, and because I like fruit trees, I have a ton of them, so it's a big cash cow for me. I also do a lot of fishing, I normally can get a decent amount, particularly if I get a dorado or something. I tried the beetle hunting at the island, and it was rather unpleasant and boring for me, I made a lot more in much less time with my other methods so I've stuck to those.

Turnips, its always been selling turnips. I'm almost at 100 million bells! And I think villager auctions and maybe a hybrid flower breeding service will help.
I sell stuff here, or exchange my tbt for in-game bells.

Fruit, beetle farming, and I also might selling TBT a lot more often that way I can attempt to buy my dreamies sooner when I have some space available, and after I finish the Gracie checks, I plan on selling A LOT of the clothes I've stockpiled in my closet.

Collecting fruit and hunting for bugs and sharks on the island is my way of making money. I'm too impatient to try to do the stalk market and I like quick results.

typically ill buy 1 million bells worth in turnips, then sell them 500+ a bunch and make a 7 million bell profit. it doesnt get any easier than that XD downside is you have 1 week to find someone who will let you sell*
