How did you start Acnl, like whats your backstory to playing this game.

My story:

I never knew about the franchise until I saw commercials for ACNL but never payed attention that much, until I went to my cousins house and he was playing New Leaf, my sister fell in love with it and got it for her birthday in August 2013. She started a town and I was hooked! I played everyday as a second resident (I swear I acted more like a mayor) I went on Google to find out how to play (Because I was still pretty new) and I started watching videos. For Christmas I got Wild World and played that like crazy as wellSoon in March 2014 I got my own copy, my town was called Palgrave, and I was hooked. Then my other Cousin got a game and my sister reset her town, we played night and day. Then after a while, in December 2014, I got an urge to delete Palgrave and started a new town called Serenity, in January 2015 I deleted and deleted until March 2015 when I started Dobutsu which I kept until June 2015, then I started Serenity that exact day, I played all through summer until October 2015, there I went through a resetting stage until January 2016. I decided to take a break from ACNL and start a new town on March Break. However that never happened I got busy and then decided to start a new town in June 2016, and now this Saturday June 11 2016 I will start my town Celestia (Hopefully nothing goes wrong)

Anyway what is your backstory to the game.

I got the gamecube version when I was a kid. I believe my parents got it when they bought the gamecube as well. I really liked it, so I have been playing every game ever since. I have gone through many towns on each of the games. I was the first to pay off all debt in gamecube (golden statue, yeah). In Wild World, I had like everything for the house, my designs were awesome and everyone wanted to know how I was so good at it. The Wii I played almost everyday and I really enjoyed the credit card thing. I remember one of the town names I had was Antlanta. I don't remember the others. My 3DS version I changed the most. I probably like reset like 5 times now. Some town names were Italy I think in most version.

AND MY CURRENT TOWN NAME IS CELESTIA YOU COPIER! (jk, it's a totally awesome name, glad you picked it)
and I'm on hiatus anyways.

My really good friend played the game nonstop when we were in the 4th grade. I was really excited to be this guy's friend, so when he asked me if I played, I said I did (even though I had never heard of the game before!). We had lots of one sided conversations about it, where I pretended to know things about the game. Finally, for my birthday, my parents bought the game for me. BUT, when I went back to school to show my friend, he said he didn't play AC anymore. :p

Needless to say, I was disappointed, but, I loved the game so much that I didn't care. I played all the time until middle school. While I got WW and CF, I didn't play those much, because I was busy with school and friends and life.

Then, my sophomore year of college, NL came out and I didn't have many friends, so I got super into it again! :)

i started with the GC version, but i would do really big time leaps and my villagers would get angry with me, and i was young so i got scared of them and didn't want to play again

skip to like...quite a few years later... i was going through rough times with a boyfriend of almost 3 years (now ex boyfriend, thankfully) and one time we went to the mall and the guy at the GameStop counter convinced me to preorder the new Animal Crossing. my ex kept making fun of me for preordering it because i always said i hated Animal Crossing after playing it when i was younger lol.

i didn't know how to play it very well when i first got it, but i got my wisdom teeth pulled very shortly after i bought it so i had time to play while i recovered. a guy that i worked with at the time who i had a crush on (which i originally had no
intentions of acting on) came over to my house and played ACNL with me on the day that i got my wisdom teeth out, and ended up being the person who really got me into the game (this was in 2013 i believe?)

that August, my bf during that time broke up with me (it's a long, complicated story, and i was very happy/relieved when it happened). i ended up hanging out with the guy from my work a lot more and we became kind of romantically involved, and would spend a lot of time going out to eat or something and playing ACNL, or going to spotpass locations together... though he had a girlfriend in a different state. this lasted until... maybe early 2014?

i thought that after i cut things off completely with the guy from my work (it made me way too sad to see him if he had someone else, especially if that would make him unfaithful or whatever) i would go back to hating animal crossing, and i kind of did forget about it for a long while, but i think... maybe going into spring or summer of 2015 i picked it back up again and i've become quite the avid player ever since

?\_(ツ)_/? animal crossing stories are dramatic, my friends

It was back in the gamecube era and my brother got animal crossing on the gamecube with a bundled memory card. I basically enjoyed watching him play through it. He was defensive about his game in general so he would pretty much be the only one playing it. And I thought it was interesting as a kid but never felt that excited about it as a kid , and I sucked at reading at the time pretty much. But it was amazing to see how he played the game.

Fast forward to 2013 and I thought 30$ for the game was a pretty good deal and so I picked it up and ever since that day i've been enjoying the heck out of New leaf. Though tbh I'm not interested in HHD or amiibo festival because those games would be soon sitting on my shelf collecting dust because I prefer a legit AC game than a spinoff.

There's no real big backstory for me. I first encountered the series when I visited a friend when we were kids. He was playing the Animal Crossing game for the GameCube, and I was pretty interested in what I saw, so I decided to get a copy of the game as well. We played it for a while before eventually moving on to other stuff, but there are some good memories. For example, it was fun to see which villagers would leave our towns to go to each other's. I managed to acquire his Octavian, and back then, Octavian was the only octopus villager. Even after we stopped playing it together, I played on my own at home and eventually managed to pay off the house. I still have a few of the starting villagers, like Cleo.

I skipped Wild World, as I didn't even know it existed at the time. The only thing that got me to buy a DS was that they released Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, which were remakes of my favorite Pokemon game, Crystal. By that time, Animal Crossing City Folk had already released, and I got that instead.

I have to say that I didn't really enjoy City Folk much. I hated having to use the Wiimote isntead of being able to use the GameCube controller, as the Wii did have GameCube controller ports and I was more comfortable using that. Additionally, there didn't seem to be much to do in the city and the whole layout of your town just seemed off. I never got far in this game.

I don't remember why I got New Leaf after the disappointment I had with City Folk. It was probably just to have more games for my 3DS aside from Pokemon, but I'm glad I bought it regardless. It's a really fun game and I like it just as much, if not more, than the GameCube game. There's plenty to do, a lot of customization options for your character (clothes, hair, etc.) and your town, and the island is a great addition.

I got the Game Cube and Animal Crossing for christmas in fourth grade. I had never encountered a game like it before and it intensely intrigued me. From then on I was hooked, and played the GC version until I got Wild World. I didn't enjoy it as much as the GC version but me and my cousins wore out the wi-fi feature ! Not long after I lost my DS lite (▰˘︹˘▰) and didn't play Animal Crossing for a few years.

But christmas of 10th grade I recieved a 3DS XL and New Leaf. I love it !! But I think what has made my experience that much better is the community I found on the Bell Tree forums! I joined very shortly after I got NL and it changed the way I look at Animal Crossing. I find what keeps me coming back to the game is not only how great it is itself but also the great group of people that collect here.

The closest I can get to a backstory though is that I remember watching somebody's Let's Play of ACNL back in 2014 because I wanted to see why that game was so popular in the first place. I really enjoyed that Let's Play in the end, but it took me the next year to actually buy a copy of ACNL. lol

Other than that, I don't really have much of a backstory of how I got into the series. To be honest, one of the reasons why I brought ACNL is to just replace all of my 3DS Pok?mon games, because I was getting really annoyed with that series. :/

I bought ACNL because I loved City Folk, I'd been waiting for it to release for over two years. I first got to know Animal Crossing when (illegally) downloading DS games on my special cartridge and I saw something with animal so my dad put it on there for me. I fell in love with the game and when I got a Wii, Animal Crossing was the first game I bought with it.

i used to think it was an adventure game where you fight bosses and get your own town lol, when i got it i found out what it really was but i was not disappointed in the slightest!, infact the first month of me getting the game, i used to get up everyday at exactly 7:00am just to play for a good 45mins, but then i found out aboot time traveling lol

Back in 2005, I kept seeing an advert on TV for Animal Crossing Wild World, I turned round and yelled about wanting the game, when the game was released in march of 2006, the game came out and I went into town and got it with my dad, my life changed from that moment onwards, and I've never been happier, animal crossing is love, animal crossing is life.

I found the exact advert that I remember seeing:
