What's up with Nooklings?!

So I've spent loadsa bells in Nooklings and my town is 7 days old today (yey!) But Timmy and Tommy don't seem to want to upgrade (no upgrade sales ). Am I doing something wrong?

Did you get the number of days from prima guide? It's actually ten days, you'll know when the shop is about to upgrade because the Nookling on duty will tell you they need to close for renovations the next day.

Ah no I got it from some website, which apparently got it from the guide. lol.

Its 10 days I think, my town is on its 9th day I believe [do days count on which you havent played at all by the way?] and its still the cranny
