What's the purpose of talking/seeing villagers in dream towns?

It's like a demo. You can see their animations and expressions before deciding if that's the animal you really want for your town.

Sometimes you want to hear their voices too. Like Teddy has a high voice considering he is such a big bear. Threw me a bit, but I kind of liked it, so I got him in my town.

And Vladimir has a really deep voice despite being so tiny. :)

But yeah, I've visited some towns just to meet villagers, see their houses, and see if I like them or not.

Just an FYI, the bear in your sig is Nate, not Teddy.

Yeah, I like to see villagers for real if I'm trying to decide who I want.

sometimes when you talk to your villagers they'll say "I had a weird dream about [name] from [town]! He seemed like a real tree chopper"
or whatever, comment on what the person did in the town
it's cute

The only reason I go to dream towns is to meet new/different villagers. I would like all 333 villagers to live in one of my 2 towns at some point, but I know that probably won't happen, so meeting them in a dream is the next best thing.

It's fun to see what a villager looks like in-game and from all angles. Plus you can see what their house exterior and interiors look like and what music they're playing. :)

The only thing I do not like about dream checking, is yes you can see them and hear tone but in dreams all personality types say the same things, scripted, the snooty will say she could run the town better, the cranky that he has a slew of visitors and shouldn't feed you while you sleep, the norm will be super hostess if outside...if you actually visited a town you would get personality. So dream is only for aesthetic and not all personalities are exactly the same but in dreams the dialogue is.

I always look them up on the internet, but they look so different in person. So it was very helpful for me to visit them in dream towns. It made me realize that i didn't like Camberra, but Shep was cuter than i thought.
