What's the point of villager pics?

I don't understand why I see people trying to collect all of them.

Do you get something for having them all?

I don't see a point in collecting all of them or not earning them on your own. I think of it as a trophy of a villager's friendship. I try to collect the pictures of villagers I have/had.

People collecting all of them could be doing so for collector's value, I suppose.

Personally I'd rather have pics of villagers who are living (or have lived) in my town.

I just love to collect them. If I can't have all the villagers in my town, I can at least look at their pictures.
