What's the big deal with Original Villagers?

I come across villagers being sold, with the seller saying that they're original, same clothes, same house, etc.
So what's the big deal about that? I don't see why a villager that's stayed exactly the same is worth more than a villager that has a different shirt, catchphrase, or some extra furniture.
