I'd say work in small sections! Before you work on an area, clear out flowers, branches, weeds, dig up trees and place them on the beach etc. Also, some find it a little difficult to make rivers/cliffs look "natural", so unless you can't think of a way to work with the ones you have, I'd maybe try to keep/minimally alter them~
