What's so special about Stitches and Marshal?

I personally don't care much for Marshal, but I had Stitches as a villager when I was younger, and he's one of my favorites. I'm never going to have him again unless I get him randomly, it seems, though. XO

I can't really stand smugs. I have Marshal and he's alright, but I find his little frown to be highly annoying. To me, I'd say the really best-looking animal in the game has to be Erik. Those horns are just awesome, and his house fits him so perfectly. The only thing that would be a little better is if he played Mountain Song, but Neapolitan is ok.

I think it's different for everyone else, but to me, Marshal really reminds me of Gill from Harvest Moon: Animal Parade/Tree of Tranquility.

I actually never knew he was so popular until I saw reddit and these forums and everyone wanting Marshal.

As for Stitches, I honestly wasn't interested at first... but then he just moved in, and I am slowly getting attached to him. I have a thing for lazy villagers. xD And he is a cutie bear cub. Who is colorful. And cute. AAAAA

Both of them are cute. That's it. Like you, I don't get how they're so popular. they're just.. cute.
And even though Marshal's cute, that frown doesn't make him look like a smug. And with those eyes, a happy smile wouldn't look good on him either ;v;

as for stitches to me he's no different than the other objects pretending to be animals like coco and zucker. so he's nice if you like weird things walking around your town.

I actually wonder if it's a bit of the "jump on the bandwagon" phenomenon.
And I don't mean any disrespect. This kind of happened to me with Merengue. I had her as a starter and thought she was alright (kinda cute, sweet personality - well, she's a normal, duh!), but it's only when I realised how popular she is that I really started to love her.
Of course, Zucker and Rudy, on the other hand, I've always loved and wanted long before I joined any forums and realised that they're pretty popular, too.
So yeah, at times I wonder if it's also the "popularity" aspect that drives more people towards these villagers. People, over time, deem them as popular and more people follow on.
I think Stitches is unique but it's not a villager I'd personally want.
As for Mashal - he is cute but I don't find him particularly cuter than most of the other squirrel characters (or say, the hamster ones).

haha the most I can do is rationalize my own inexplicable love for Marshal. It's his cute little scowl. Feminist already pointed out his adorable rosy cheeks. ;w; As for Stitches, the idea of a walking stuffed animal might be kind of weird, but I think he's adorable.

Marshal has a cute face haha, he reminds me of like a hot anime character lol, but I don't really like him. He also seems like...like he has an attitude or something. And I'd rather have cute animals than 'tude animals hah

Stitches, however, is like a big cuddly teddy bear and is always welcome in Tsuville

I think it's just a matter of personal taste! Marshal reminds me a lot of my sulky boyfriend, so I adore him. Stitches is just cute, like a little moving stuffed toy with a room full of kiddie items.
