What’s it like being the second islander?

I’m currently the only one on my island but my roommate is getting very interested in playing but says he doesn’t really care for terraforming or making paths. He kinda just wants to make a nice house and make money and catch bugs and fish. I know the second person to move in has limited abilities and while that is a downside for a lot of people, I think in this case it might be a positive

So basically I’m just wondering what other restrictions and abilities does the second islander have?

It's not really that restricting.
Other characters can still edit the flag, town tune, place outdoor decorations, use terraforming, move their house, invite villagers, donate to the museum, make custom designs and so forth.
The only thing they can't do is move shops/villager houses/put bridges & inclines.

That’s strange that they can terraform but can’t put bridges or inclines...but thanks for the info!
