What's Going On With My Trees!?

So I've never been a regular tree-shaker, but have found a fair few items and a whole bunch of wasp nests by giving them a shake every now and then when I have time.

A few nights ago I decided to go around my island and give them all a shake, looking for furniture...and nothing!

The same last night.

Tonight, I've just shaken every single tree on my island (there are LOTS, as Isabelle likes to tell me!), and again...no furniture and only two wasp nests.

There are a few trees which have no free spaces around them, but not that many, and I assume the game would spawn the wasps and furniture in a different tree in that instance? The vast majority of my trees just drop a branch.

Any ideas!?

Are you sure it’s not in the trees that are blocked? I don’t think the game would know if you had items placed around your tree blocking items from falling on the ground. So I doubt they would omit those trees from containing items & wasps.

They could be, I suppose. Nothing's falling and disappearing into the flowers like happens if a balloon pops above a blocked-in tile, though.

It seems really weird to have happened for the past three nights, too - it's only a handful of trees which are completely surrounded by flowers.

It could just be a run of bad luck, I suppose!

OK, so I've removed flowers from around my blocked-in trees and have been around my island shaking every non-fruit tree last night and again this morning.

Not a single item of furniture!

Any ideas!?

Very strange but are all or most of your trees fruit trees? Wasps and furniture comes from the cedar and hardwood trees I believe

I've got a similar situation to the OP and this would make a lot of sense since I have mostly fruit trees and haven't gotten furniture in days

I have only a handful of regular trees so almost every time I shake them, I get something from those select trees so I'm pretty sure that's how it works! :)

The fruit trees could be a plausible reason why you're not getting anything. Make sure you have space for items to fall to the ground, and you have different types of trees.

i haven't gotten furniture from a tree in a really long time, and probably gotten 1 wasp from the last 2 weeks. yeah, i'm not an avid tree shaker as well.

I don't have many fruit trees compared to the amount of hardwood trees I have and have never had this problem, but early on when I had the opposite, I didn't get anything other than branches and fruit from the trees. As others have mentioned this could be the case with you, but if it's not then... that's very strange indeed.

If the majority of your trees are fruit trees, they won't drop furniture or wasp nests.

You have to have at least 10 nonfruit trees for you to get the full range of things out of your trees. You get 2 furniture pieces, 5 wasps and 5 bells. Of course you can have more than 10 and it will just randomly select your trees, but you have to have at least 10 nonfruit trees.

I actually made a thread about this yesterday asking about how many trees you would need to get the daily 2 furniture items and 5 wasp nests, someone commented that they have exactly 7 non-fruit trees and they get the 7 items every day. maybe you're just looking over some trees? I know I have been CERTAIN that I had shaken every tree and then I ran into one somewhere and went 'wait, did I shake this one?' and then I apparantly didn't because something did fall out

I had the same issue with trees not dropping furniture and wasps often, it’s caused by having many fruit trees and not much normal trees.

What do you mean?

I've been having this issue and just assuming I forgot some trees, or it got weird since some of my trees are surrounded by flowers, but I also have big orchards... So if that's the problem I'd like to know so I can fix it!

No - I have some fruit trees, but not that many.

I have enough trees for Isabelle to complain about them, and the vast majority are hardwood / cedar.

I don't know when this issue started, as I don't always shake the trees, but having noticed it last week, it's happened for 5 days in a row now.

I shake trees religiously every day and get 5 wasps, and 2 furniture items.

I do believe you need to have a certain number of trees, because some trees have bells. So you need enough for the spawn chance to work, and as others have said, fruit trees don't count.

The item leaves fall slowly, so they cannot bounce. You need to have cleared space under the trees.

Also, you need to be absolutely sure you aren't missing any trees. There have been days where I couldn't find the last wasp and it turned out to be in a tree hidden away in some corner of the island.

Yes I've come to the same conclusions. It's most likely they're in a tree with no space on the ground around it so can't fall one, or one forgotten one...

The solution I'm planning on implementing soon enough is covering at least one square next to every tree with custom clover pattern, that way (furniture) leaves can always fall.
So say T is tree, F is flower, C is custom clovers

Does anyone know if furnitures can fall diagonally? I think I've only ever seen them on the squares right besides trees.

They will fall on any of the three squares in front of the tree, so you’re good.

Had the same problem of not finding one furniture item. Cleared the spot right next to the tree: didn't fall, cleared the space right in front and it fell then.

The space has to be in front of the tree? That's probably my issue, then. I cleared a space adjacent to each tree, but I'm pretty sure some of them were at the side rather than one of the three tiles in front of the tree.

It's still pretty bad luck that with the ridiculous number of trees they could spawn in, they've spawned in that handful of blocked-in trees for the past five days, though!

Hopefully this will sort it for me when I have time to shift a few more flowers. Thanks for the info.
