What's a possible fix for 018-0512 error code? Help please

Trying to trade with someone on TNT for Skye, but apparently I have issue getting into his town, keep getting the error code. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I get the same error code with certain towns, and I've ended up assuming that it's router incompatibility and can't be fixed.
Some towns I can connect with all the time, others not a single time.
I've tried everything, litterally, even created a DMZ for my 3DS on my router, took down my firewall... Nothing helped.
It's so exhausting to never know if you'll be able to conduct a trade or an adoption properly.

Ikr, acnl is actually the only game I've ever experienced the error code, literally no way to work around it except maybe run to a Starbucks and hoping that will work.

Maybe you could have someone hold Skye in a cycling town (that you know you can connect to) or something?

Seems like the best way you'll get her.

Thought about that too, but I'm not familiar with any cycler's and I'll have to lay 10mil of bells on that cycler's town, that would just cause lots of hassle for everyone.

Actually ginx - I have room in my cycling town and we could see if it would work with me. I promise you I have no interest in keeping Skye, I'm holding a Marshal raffle at the moment, but I should have room if you're interested and if you can't get the thing working.

Prehaps running in and using starbucks wifi might be a good idea, at least you'll know for sure thats its your wifi thats not compatible!

I had this same problem and fixed it by getting a new router(Linksys N300 E1200).I haven't had any connection issues since I got this router.I'm not sure if that error code is strictly an incompatible hardware issue but if it is,it might be worth a shot to try a new router.
