What would you do?

If I wind up alone on an island, I start a tour and just do my thing until someone else shows up. Then I go on the tour to empty the island, then start another tour. I've never had the problem of scammers flicking the switch, but I have had people who didn't like the items on the island flick the switch. :/

Pff, I prefer to fool around with scammers on the CT island. It's funnier that way and, if I lose the rare items, then it's not the end of the world. This random guy asked me out because we were the same age, and wouldn't let me leave until I gave him my FC. Sure, I could've given a fake FC, but it wasn't really worth it. Flicked the wifi switch.

That's basically all I do if I come across them. The wifi switch is more useful than you think, haha.

That happened to me. I talked about it in another thread, but it didn't bother me as much at the time because I wasn't aware that they were trying to scam me. Did the thing where they sign up for tours and didn't sit, and proceeded to beg me for bells/items and wouldn't stop even after I said no politely several times and tried to ignore them. They kept scaring my bugs and fish and still kept begging. I eventually got fed up and told them I hoped their town burned before they flipped wifi on me.
At the time I thought it was just some annoying kid (which wasn't wrong), but now I know better. Luckily I was just catching bugs and not after anything rare.
One thing I've started doing is making sure I do all my tours on my own island, that way I don't have to rely on tortimer island tours for medals. I'm not sure if it's universal, but one time I was buying hibiscus starts and someone cut the wifi, but since they were already in my basket they weren't compromised. My best advice is to show up with the medals you might need, buy and store your items, and go from there.

I've never had that problem, but the few times I've gone to Club Tortimer I've taken zero bells. Why take them when you pay with medals anyway? I stock up on medals on my own island, so I usually have time to buy what I want, basket them, and leave before anyone can even enter the building. If not, and someone threatens me: 1) I literally have no bells. 2) Go ahead, flick the switch. I'm patient enough to go to another couple islands until I find what I'm looking for.

I don't know what you should do. Personally I just don't go to Club Tortimer any more at all, because I just do what is fun for me. Club Tortimer isn't as much fun for me as just hanging out by myself on the island. I guess I am a bit of a loner.

I'd say, figure out what is most fun for you and do that.

Hmm...I would probably not give them any Bells. If they cut you off, there is always the possibility that someone will be selling those items here. Yet I remember one time on my first town someone asked for Bells and I gave them some...I think I believed they were broke. :p
