im currently on May 7th 2017 and I was wondering what would happen if I time travelled to May 7th 2015 (today)
Would I lose my progress or would villagers move out as a consequence?

From my understanding, when you time travel backwards (regardless of how many days), it's like tting forward one day.

No matter how many days you travel back, it will only count as a single day as long as its done all at once.

May 2017 -> May 2015 will only count as a single day passed.

You'd go to prehistoric times.

Actually, it's like the people above said. Nothing would really change except going back counts as a day.

The best thing to do would be to keep playing until a villager asks you to move out. Tell that villager no, and then time travel back two years. Then you don't have to worry about anyone moving out.

I don't think that nothing major would happen. Just only if you went forward two years, then there would be a change.

That's...interesting...I always thought time traveling large periods of time would result in losing my residents.

That would be if you time travel large period of time forward. But like everyone else said, backwards only equals one day. Its pretty convenient when you go too far forward. :)
