let's say, if you put a cherry for a million, and a villager entered the Re-Tail, what will happen? I never tried it because I don't want my poor villagers to go broke XP

They wont buy it, because they know its expensive. Setting a high price at Re-Tail is useful for Trades or Buying items/Villagers.

pretty much the same thing they do when they see anything they're interesting in buying, they'll ping but they'll comment on the high price and walk away.

that's interesting :P
funnily enough, I once tired to put a bunch of items for really low prices (because I like to spoil my villagers) and they commented on how awfully low the price is :P

Lolly wanted to buy an item but she said it was too high. I did the time 4 and minus a bell when I set the price. Took the item and mailed it to her.
If the price is too low they think something wrong with the item. I mostly go with Reese prices and the villagers will buy a lot.
It helps get the fish out.

I tried a trick I saw somewhere that after the villager pings to reset the price to be higher and they would buy it.
It didn't work and Poncho said it was way to high.

The most I've gotten is about 7,000 Bells, but it took a lot of convincing. :c They'll just mention that the price is too high and then leave it alone. :>

I just double whatever Reese's default price is, had no rejections yet and made a ton of cash off of the mush furniture.

I tried to convince Elvis to buy back his throne which normally is 800k, he didn't want to buy the original price, then I set it to 200k. Every single villager, including Elvis, who pinged for it said it was too high even though it might be a bargain. I sold it for 10k instead and that took some major convincing for Elvis to want to buy it. He considered it for 2 days before saying yeah why not, gotta splurge sometimes or something like that.

They won't buy it. My Re-Tail is filled with overpriced fruit (999,999) since I don't want my villagers to get rid of their furniture and because of trades, so I know this from experience. When you go to Re-Tail, sometimes you'll see them look shocked or surprised, and when you talk to them they'll talk about it.

If you make stuff super expensive, villagers will just comment and walk away. They won't buy anything higher than 10k bells if you're trying to swindle them. :p

Villagers will only buy your items on Re-Tail if your items are less or equal to 9,999 Bells.
But there is a calculation as to how much an item goes. With some 'simple' maths, with n being the default amount of Bells Reese sets up: 4n - 1

No matter what item, they will not buy it if it's 10,000+ Bells...
So I used Re-Tail to set up ores and sell them to 7,999 and 9,999 Bells if it's a Gold Ore.
Works everytime a villager goes into Re-Tail, plus they don't display it in their house!!

^ I do that as well! So far Boone, Ankha and Bluebear all bought some ore. You can do that with the coffee beans Brewster gives you too; they won't display it in their houses either. I did set them too high though, at 9,999 for the superb ones and 7,999 for the good ones. It should be 3,999 for good ones and 7,999 for superb ones. Boone still bought some. |D

However I find that it's really rare for a villager to buy something when not persuaded. I once saw Boone ping looking at some ore, and I was curious if he'd buy it without me prompting him to; he didn't. :p
