I am quite curious about this as a while back, I simply wanted a cute fairy-tale town and decided I was going to put up Arches, pretty flower paths and adorable decor for PWPs. Someone started joking in a helpful way that my town should be a mafia town since I had already said my Mayor was extorting money from all her casino customers; however I decided to finally put a Mafia Style theme onto my town of Airuka. I now have one home that I am turning into a ritzy Las Vegas style hotel, also I am making it a sort of dreamy/pretty and ritzy/flashy-style of town. My hotel will have different suites and the master suite on top, the entrance has a guy in a king costume at the concierge and my resident who owns the hotel is in league with the Mayor who is cruel/vicious and heartless, but she always puts a cute face on for visitors. The bakery/Cafe is a ritzy one I am still progressing on and the owner loves good fashion-the most expensive kind, she wants to sell her decadent pastries and food for exorbitant prices, much to visitors not knowing where it all goes.

As for my Mayor as mentioned she has no heart, she will sooner murder you for backstabbing her than let you free, she loves her fancy money driven room with a safe full of gold and a briefcase with cash that she hoards for herself and her right-and men. I made Bam her right-hand man and muscle with Rosie being the second in command, but she loves Bam and Bam loves the Boss AKA my Mayor, Chief is the guardsmen and usually stays up late to watch for betrayal and other mischief. Whitney and Diana are the servers in Kairi's lounge and usually always get high tips, Beau and Stitches tend to leech off the Mayor much to her dismay and seem to have a steady friendship but sometimes steal the Mayor's cash,Merengue helps with the Bakery as she too partakes in the sweets earning's and finally Marshal is a server in the Casino as well, usually earns high class women's tips as he is a smooth talker xD

Overall there is darkness and malice, money greed and mischief all in my town, now I am curious about what Stories you all have or even Themes to match up and what personas your villagers and residents might have;)

:o I was waiting for a thread like this! ^^
Ruff and Daniel are just me and my boyfriend, but I wanted to put a twist on it. I had an idea of having normal homes and putting something classily sinister in the basements, that not many people would get right away but after realising it be totally mind****ed.
Ruff is a secret torturess, evident by the large candle, the fireplace and the hourglass. (I wanted a hot poker but couldnt find one xD) I kind of based it off the expansion pack for Amnesia- with the Arc de Triomphe in one corner and a chaise lounge in the middle. (since it takes place in France.)There is a violin in the other corner, though I couldn't find a tennis racquet and a hammer so I just left it at that. I thought of the toy hammer but that's way too bright.
I asked my boyfriend what he wanted and he said he didn't really mind, so I expanded the storyline of his "crush" on Diana. (He sent her a letter on his first day in the town and out how pretty she was) I put her picture in the middle of the room, surrounded by candles. I put a gallant statue (yes, I know) "looking" at it and covered the wall in this Diana-head wallpaper. So creepy.
Anyway, my mules are called Bramble and Fawnie, two siblings (Bramble being a boy and Fawnie being a girl) and Fawnie is a seamstress. Fawnie got successful in her past town and Bramble was jealous, they got in a fight and Bramble wears a post-op patch.
In Bramble's basement he has a white katana by his desk, and on his desk is a typewriter and a letter set. Above it is a picture of both of them except Fawnie's face is crossed out.
Fawnie's basement is completely black with just a theromin (I think that's it? The one that makes a screeching noise) in it, describing her pain at knowing her brother doesn't love her anymore.

My town is full of cats (and a few others i'm trying to either find a story to or giveaway) anyways my town is full of cats, and an evil wolf, Whitney was kind enough to plot her house up against the traintracks so it's like Whitneys the evil wolf who takes cats at night and who lives in the dark forst xD anyways that's my town

My town is pretty much an extension of my personality. The mayor is me (with very blond hair), one of the characters is my real life boyfriend who has the role of pattern and storage mule because he refuses to play the character I made for him and the last character is another storage mule who has my middle name and almost the same birthday as me, but with the month and day switched. As you can tell, I'm super creative. My dream villagers are a mixture of characters I've loved in previous games, grown attached to in this town and ones I just think look cool. It's all pink with pwps I think are pretty/cool (mostly fairy tale I guess) and a lot of flowers and the characters are all dressed like royals because we're super fancy, lol. It's not really that organised or rigidly following a theme because I find it more personal and fun this way. Basically I just played and had a lot of fun and this is what my town has evolved into in the year or so I've been playing.

Well... My town is a cute, fun pink town always set in April most of the time.. But there is something dark going on... Just... Just don't let people look in the basement...

just a cute cozy town lol

Shibe's a student (class president??) of the school
Nana (mayor) admires him
Momo's a concierge at the town inn
and my last character's a mysterious foreign movie star!!

Loved reading these stories:D

And what other decor you all have to pertain to the residents.

Starlark- I particularly loved reading the dark stories for your two towns<3 Any other folks with themed/story towns:)?

My mayor in my Joy town is a witch.I always think that she is in charge and the other characters (Snow White Cinderella and Noel ) fear her. However, if they desperately need help with something, they will go to her.The bad thing is, there is always a price.

I'm still too new to have done much to my town (I decided to work on my house instead in the hope that the time it would take would encourage my tasteless villagers to suggest some decent PWPs) and my ideas are evolving. But I ended up getting carried away with putting toys in my rec room precipitating the decision that my mayor was quite young roundabout the same time I came across the theory that protagonist of Animal Crossing New Leaf is dead and all these letters and gifts from Mum were left on the grave.

So I've decided my (currently only character) Mayor Lil is not consciously aware she's dead, and because she died before she had a chance to grow up she isn't ready to move on yet. The town is basically her chance to live the life of independence and adult work she lost with her untimely death. New villagers are ones who recently died, and the campsite visitors are ones on the brink of death which could go either way (sometimes they die in the real world and move in). Villagers who wish to move out have accepted both their deaths and that it is time to move on, but at the same time they are aware Lil is nowhere near ready to even admit she's dead and might take their leaving badly which is why they often say: "On second thoughts I think I'll stay here after all..." or just avoid telling her until it is too late and sometimes visit.

oh my ;w; so much reading xDD

my town is a warm fuzzy feeling once you walk in , its still a wip ;w; *tear

natural paths , rose boarders , rosy beach , perfect fruits , and kawaii villagers <3

I love people's little stories behind their towns :) I'm just trying to make mine sorta resemble the town of Kassel, where I stayed when I was an exchange student in Germany. But I'm also overall going for a pretty, kinda woodsy, European forest feel to my town. I have all my villagers in the same little square on my map. My paths do/will sorta go around the houses, it's like a little animal forest that you stroll through. I honestly love having all my villagers so close. Whenever I step outside, there's some grass/waterfall and a little pond area, and there's always some cute villagers walking around.

With my town I also made up a little 'rule' in my head which is "a home/place for all flowers!" so basically, I will do my best not to dig up/otherwise remove any flowers, even ones I hate (cosmos and lilies..., I wanna have a place for them.

As far as my villagers, I just love them. I've had the exact same Kid Cat and O'Hare in all 3 of my towns (I've reset twice, I held them and got them back successfully both times), I have the exact same Rosie and Lobo as my last town... I had Mira, Erik, Carmen, Lobo, Punchy and Ankha (well Margie too but I lost her, but getting her back soon!) in my old town too, it was fate I guess that I got Erik again because I let him go but he was a starter in my new town so I guess we're meant to be friends forever. He was my first BFF when I started playing New Leaf. I took him to my new town when I reset, then I got Francine and had a TT issue and lost him, did the 16 villager cycle, got him back, then let him go before I reset.

Really the only one I think of any sort of backstory is with Mira. Sometimes in my head I pretend she had a past where she fought/was in a gang and is in my town to get away from it and put it behind her/move on, and she's one of my best friends :) She's probably my weirdest villager but it was because of losing her that I reset again, and now I have an awesome new town that I love!

I look forward to putting out a dream address :) Just waiting for Margie and PWP suggestions to really get to work on the rest of my town. I love my new house more than ever too...

My town is a forest retreat for hipsters/hippies/city folk who want a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's a little based off of my college town in Northern California, but Oranje has a little more of a historical feel to it (mainly due to the non-tech related pwp and the old brick path I have). Paula, Jacques, Fuchsia, Tiffany, and Eugene are the "cool" kids in my town and in my head-canon, they like to hang with each other and have a good time.

The mayor of the town, Rachel (loosely based on myself), is a college-grad who decided to settle down in Oranje and become the mayor so it can help with her application for grad school. She's a huge history buff and that is reflected in her Ottoman-themed house. However she is a bit strict, which doesn't make the cool gang very happy. They tend to tell her to relax and not take things too seriously, which annoys her. She gets along more with Anabelle, Kitt, Cranston, and Wolfgang.

My alt. character Joshua owns the ocean themed hotel/sushi bar in the town. He's a very relaxed and easy going, surfer kind of guy and he's an accepted member of the cool gang. My other alt. Lynn is a bit of a hippy with a modern flair for things. She owns the town's convenience store (with all organic, non-gmo food. :P), as well as an office that employs some of the villagers and a game lounge so the town people can relax and have fun. She tends to be the middle ground, getting along with everyone in town. :)

I'm constantly changing my mind about it, but the one thing that's been constant is my desire for a natural countryside by the sea sort of feel. My mayor Ettienne's home has the chalet exterior, so I've been toying with the idea of turning her home into a French villa. If I ever have another character, his name will be Tobias, but his house? No clue.

I love reading everyone else's stories though. They've given me more inspiration and drive. c:

I like the name Tobias like from Amazing World of Gumball.

I love reading these. ;) People have so great ideas.

I don't really know if this is quite what you're asking for, but as for my town, it's a zen themed escape place. Recently, I've started to come up with a background story for it. It's not nearly finished and needs a lot of thought and improving. It will probably change a lot as I come up with better ideas, but I thought I'd share the story as it is now ->

I think the idea of making a town that has something weird, wicked or suspicious going on beneath the surface is very interesting. I'd like to make a town like that, but nevertheless, I decided to do something different this time. My town's main goal is to
offer an escape place for the beings who need it. It's a place where the villagers don't have to worry about their pasts chaining them. Instead, here they have a chance for a fresh start.

The mayor who goes by my nickname Katsu, established the town of Haven trying to improve her life and live as she wanted. The process during which the town was born wasn't quick, though, but happened little by little. Of course - it can't really be called a town if only one person lives there. (I'll come up with a story about how it all started.)

Hidden deep in the mountains, Haven is a small faraway town in which the residents lead calm, happy and peaceful lives. Everyhing's quite allright there even though the unlucky pasts the villagers have escaped still occassionally haunt them.

The residents get along well, have fun hanging out together and taking part in events.

The village decides on things together, but the mayor still has a big part in keeping it all together. She tries her best to improve everyone's lives and can often be found helping others and just chatting and having a good time with them. Everyone thinks of her more as their friend than as their mayor. She's concerned over everyone but isn't too nosy. She's working on making her house a place where the townsfolk can relax and socialize. It will be partly inn too, for travelers sometimes pass through. She's one of the big optimists in town.

Kino is the main character of Kino no Tabi and so isn't an original character of mine. She is a traveler who spends the majority of her time on her journeys. No one really knows why she decided to build a house to Haven. The villagers still like hearing her interesting stories. They like visiting her home which is full of cool foreing things from around the world.

Magatsu isn't my original character either as he is from a manga. He is a fromer kenshi and a former member of a former well-known sword school. I thought up a new life for him, and he is now a craftsman and a keen gardener. He gardens a variety of things - everything from flowers to vegetables and herbs. Just as the mayor, he has a habit of helping everyone. He's good friends with Cyrus they both being the crafty type. The villagers are always very interested in his handicrafts and garden. Magatsu enjoys inviting the other villagers over for tea. He likes deep conversations. Magatsu often recalls the times he being a kenshi.

I have yet to come up with background stories for all the animal villagers so I won't write about them now.

OMG haha the Mira thing is too cute, I had Mira at some point, but never thought to give her a true personality:)

I really loved this, definitely flows along with a theme/story;) I like how it's basically a haven for all villagers and it leads a very calm/serene/peaceful sort of aura. Love it<3

All these other stories are so wonderful to read, even if you're simply adding a reated decor to your town in order to match everything precisely<3

My town is just a town is just a town is just a town. Nothing really interesting yet. I'm trying to get my animal's houses full of bugs and fish, though. Animals keeping animals!

My town is basically Harry Potter!
If you watched or read you will know!
When I started my town,I didn't plan to have a HP town so I named my 2nd character Josh, who now plays voldemort which I am mad about but the 3rd and 4th character represent Hermione and Hagrid!I have all the rooms you need and Hagrids house is just his small hut!Theres also dark forest and near voldemorts house there are darker paths and so on.The story is Harry trying to destroy Voldemort and live his life normally.Even the villagers represent certain main characters
Julian:Dumbledore
Tom:Snape
Lucky:Mad eye
Freya:Giny
Etc.. :D

My town is cosmic themed. Blue sparkly star-patterned paths, modern looking PWP's, modern police station, and I plan to get the modern town hall and train station. I haven't got it down yet but I'm going to have blue, black, and purple flowers scattered throughout.

That was my idea, but my villagers and ideas just don't allow for an all-round theme, nor my house. I've decided to make it more forest themed, though Julian stands in pride of place as the nearest to my house.
People with more creativity can pull it off though, you included!
Here's a link to a moon kingdom tumblr I really enjoy:
the moon kingdom
Hope you can get some ideas from this! :3
