If you like old school Zelda style games, definitely pick up 3D Dot Game Heroes.
Certainly the Infamous Collection. Think superheroes meets a city sandbox, though only sandbox in a basic sense, sort of like Assassin's Creed.
Resistance Collection (Contains Resistance 1-3) - If you like FPS games you can't go wrong with this series. First game is more of a throwback to Quake and early Medal of Honor titles regarding level design while the others elect for a more plot-directed progression, but the enemies stay clever and keep you playing strategically. It's an alternate history where in the 1950s an alien invasion begins infecting human-kind.
Dragon's Crown - Great side-scrolling action-RPG from Atlus.
Valkyria Chronicles - Probably one of the best strategy-RPGs I have ever played.
Not sure how interested you are in platformers, but Puppeteer is an excellent recent title. There's always the Ratchet and Clank Future Seriez and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. If you missed out on the earlier titles in either series during the PS2 days, there are also the Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper HD Collections.
If you're interested in JRPGs, Tales of Xillia is another strong title.
