Hello,

I know I love Animal Crossing, I just bought it because of that. I do wonder what I can do as a newcomer to the game to get the most out of it. I'll get the Switch Version too, but for a while I'll play New Leaf. So what are some things I should definitely do as I am new to the game? And what are some tips to get the most out of it?

Kind regards,
TheRealProcyon

Try to get every variety of fruit as soon as possible. I get them mostly by doing island tours or trading on the forum.

I don't know if this is a bit much for a newcomer, but you could always try to get your town to a 'perfect town' status as you get to unlock some cool PWPs.

talk to all your villagers every day! even just once. they can give you things, you can give them things, you can visit them, they'll visit you, you can do requests for them that also help you learn where things are like which fish are in the river vs the ocean and stuff.

Place pathway tiles to protect the front of your house, bridges, buildings. The villagers wouldn't be able to move in those spots.

Plant the one perfect fruit in a safe spot.

be sure to plant the perfect fruit in a space where it will grow, so you get more. also try and talk to your villagers everyday and try to be the best mayor you can be :3 i guess its solely up to you on what you do, but try do what suits you

Is this a thing? I seem to remember villagers moving onto my paths all the time. Is this something they fixed with the Welcome Amiibo update?

It is indeed. It's not 100 percent guranteed to work and for that I highly recommend using the old plot reseting method, but the majority of time I've been able to avoid villagers moving on patterns.

unlocking all the shops and leveling them up is a good thing to start with, too! also, if you want to kill time, id go to the island and catch bugs as often as possible because the house expansions get quite pricy and its good to have a few mil of savings lol

Not exactly just a newcomer advice but since you mentioned you just bought the game; play multiplayer when you can. Make the most of it. It can be pretty fun with right people +discord communication helps

At your own pace, maybe try and grow your house size and find out what villagers you really want by letting unwanted ones move! I definitely recommend getting the fruits though. Just play through and have fun!!!
