What things do you do that give away how long you've been playing AC?

I
I build as many fences as possible, because in the original Animal Crossing we always tried to build fences with signs.

I completely ignore the wands, because im an OG player, and aint got time or an item slot for that.

I agree with your opinion about wands! I find them to be so pointless. I have recipes for star, Bunny Day, and bamboo wands but I just don’t see the point. I can just change clothes at home.

Yes, all of that. The running is very telling. Someone running by you heading to the first villager they see. Yikes!

I am my own worst enemy when it comes to picking up flowers. ;)

The language is a huge issue. I am always editing because I use town.

Another difference, leaving messages on the bulletin board. Idk. maybe it's now a personal thing. I always thought it was a nice little touch!

• Didn't even realize I was supposed to be using island and resident services instead of town and town hall until I read this thread. it's too unwieldy!!
• The flower plucking thing! It's a constant issue, whyy. also, panicking when i run through them.
• Avoiding walking over the X's on the ground in case it's a pitfall seed
• I keep trying to open storage items outside only to find just clothes
• I consistently forget about the tool ring. 😂 I find myself opening inventory and picking through
• I don't use the wand either, it seems genuinely more inconvenient bc then the clothes are tied only to that outfit and cant be accessed in wardrobe for different combinations. like lol what?
• Oh and I keep trying to use the Wild World method of getting animals to ping you even though it doesn't seem to work here. I think it still worked in NL? or else i'm just very out of date lol

I still very carefully nudge my joystick towards bugs so I don't scare them off instead of holding down A.

Oh, this is interesting! What was your first AC game, if you don't mind me asking? I feel like holding down A has been a thing since I started playing (Wild World), but I can't quite remember for sure.

You know, I really miss getting so many messages on the bulletin board. They seem quite rare now! Isabelle's anncouncements are cute, but I feel likey they really cut into the duties of the bulletin board.

definitely continuously calling my island my town -- i still can't break this habit lol.

I used to always forget the tool ring, but I've gotten a lot better about it!

Definitely have grass wear trauma about running - but it's always nice to remember "OH YEAH, no more grass wear, yaaaaaay!".

Still say "villagers" and honestly probably won't ever stop because it's my preference by a mile.

- I still occasionally forget and try to pick up flowers instead of digging them up. I have dozens of accidentally-plucked blossoms in my storage!

Every time. I don't think I will ever NOT do this, haha.

Before terraforming was unlocked for me I started placing down patterns for where I wanted paths when I later realized all the time I was wasting in doing so.

- I still say "town" instead of "island"
- and also "town hall" instead of "resident services"
- aaand I also sometimes refer to myself as mayor when I guess there isn't one in NH LOL
- I accidentally pick flowers when I actually want to put them in my pockets
- I may be wrong here on this but,, I was under the impression that cedar trees were still limited to grow in the northern part of town,, so I planted them exclusively in the north,,,,, but then I saw someone else's town and they had cedar trees in the south?? or uhh maybe they used fruit power to move the tree after it grew up north idk :'D
- I was extremely surprised and confused when I saw people put palm trees NOT on the beach lol
- oh, and I still avoid my flowers when I run haha
- oH, AND I still am not used to being able to put items on top of custom paths :'D

I still call them "towns" instead of "islands" too! And I'm also afraid of trying to pick up items on paths in case I pick up the path instead haha.

I also still drop furniture in my house one by one and push/rotate things around. ^^;;

While online, it takes me a long time to type out a couple of words. I'm so used to the keyboard from the gamecube game which is totally different. I also call my island my town and islanders villagers instead.

Hoarding items and bells like crazy. I know they'll come in handy later. Also hitting rocks with shovels.

I still subconsciously walk through flowers even though I know they won't die if I run now. Same with running on grass. I get flashbacks to City Folk and how dirty my town looked because of grass deterioration. It'll take some time getting use to these improvements.

You can run over flowers and grass now? 😮

Wow, I had no idea grass deterioration was a thing?? Maybe because NL was my first and it was apparently less harsh in it… But anyway, from what I've read on the wiki, I'm very glad they took that out! o_o;
I very much don't run on flowers though, haha.

Also, the "town" instead of "island" thing.. argh, it's hard to let go :'D But if I shouldn't be calling villagers "villagers", what the heck am I supposed to call them??

And, as opposed to a surprising good amount of people in this thread, I've been using the tool ring and my wand a lot? The former is just so much more useful and I thoroughly enjoy making outfits with the latter! :D

No running because of my City Folk scars.

Also not freaking out about the 'real-time' factor. Content to wait and see what each day brings. :-]

My first game was Wild World! For some reason the ability to hold down A to sneak up on bugs was taken out in Wild World and City Folk, but you can do it in all the other games. I played WW and CF religiously for most of my childhood so it's just one of those things that's forever ingrained in my memory lol

Yes! Grass doesn't get damaged at all, and flower blossoms will disappear but they'll just grow back, instead of the plant dying. I think those might be my favorite changes to the whole game.

"Islanders," I suppose? It never occurred to me to not call them villagers until just now, either!

Gosh, I completely blocked it out of my memory that you couldn't hold down A to sneak in WW. But I do remember having to walk very, verrrry slowly when I was on my beach, bug-hunting. >_< Man, I'm glad they added the sneak feature for NL.

It's not something I've made a habit out of, but I tried to get inside my lighthouse for like a solid minute when I put it up. Dunno what I expected to find in there, Tortimer hasn't been along to tell me to turn it on after all.
