What things do you do that give away how long you've been playing AC?

Do you guys do anything that gives away the fact that you're a new or returning player?

I just realized today that I have several little habits that have carried over from past games. When people come to my island (or I visit theirs), they can probably tell I've been playing the series for a while, and haven't quite gotten used to the new controls!

- I always plant my trees with a grassy space in front of them and on either side, a holdover from when fruit would disappear if it landed on a path.

-When I trade with someone, instead of dropping their item/payment on the path, I find the nearest piece of grass/beach and leave it there.

- I still occasionally forget and try to pick up flowers instead of digging them up. I have dozens of accidentally-plucked blossoms in my storage!

OH definitely the plucked flowers! That is my biggest downfall. I feel that I've adapted so well to the new terraforming and path making aspects of the game but I keep. picking. flower heads. off. THE. PLANT!!!

Oh, me too! I try to only run on my paths, and walk on the grass. I also try to walk on other people's islands, still.

And I cringe if I accidentally run through my own flowers, like I'm afraid they're going to disappear, even though I know perfectly well they won't.

Same. I still walk 99% of the time because of that.

Definitely the running but I’ve slowly gotten used to that.
More than anything though, I keep referring to the Resident Center as Town Hall and myself as Mayor lol

In the beginning I always forget about the existence of the tool ring and would spend my time cycling through each of the tools before I remember oops

I build as many fences as possible, because in the original Animal Crossing we always tried to build fences with signs.

I completely ignore the wands, because im an OG player, and aint got time or an item slot for that.

Oh man, I can't stop calling it "town hall" either. And I refer to it as my "town" rather than my "island."

I also keep going to my closet to open up my storage, forgetting that there are only clothes in there now.

I still cringe when I see people run in other peoples towns, I still walk. I refer to my resident center as town hall and I keep plucking the flowers lol

i always go to my villagers' houses and snoop through them to try and get things but am only greeted with their clothes LOL

i have the problem with plucking flowers (ugh) and running too - i'm more used to running on my island now, but whenever i visit a really pretty island, i catch myself consciously walking to try and keep the grass nice.
i definitely had to read over this and replace "town" with the word "island" because i am also not used to referring to it as an island !!

I've adjusted, but it took me a bit to get used to the tool ring and the way flowers work. I do miss just picking flowers up completely tbh lol digging them up is more work and also means I gotta use my shovel constantly...

I swear they only put that in there to make us break our shovels and force us to keep crafting. (Not really, but am tired of breaking shovels every time I do any construction and have to move a bazillion flowers out of the way!)

I do the same!! If I'm running in my plaza I'll stop as soon as I hit grass because grass deterioration thoughts flood my conscious lol.

that's what I was just about to say. It's so hard for me to run on the grass. I have to run on a path or sand
I also keep referring to it as my town and new players are like haha what? it's an island.

I also yell at the tools quite frequently. They need to stop breaking and let me live my life

All of those things.
I dont run. I only trade at my beach. I dont carry the wand. I keep trying and failing to use it. Picking up flowers.
Being suprised I can catch tarantulas even after I catch 50. Forgetting when decorating I can place stuff outside. Thinking my third chop with an axe will kill trees.
Calling it my town hall ,my villagers ,my town, my town hall, my gate.
What tool ring I nevwmer use it.

I still subconsciously walk through flowers even though I know they won't die if I run now. Same with running on grass. I get flashbacks to City Folk and how dirty my town looked because of grass deterioration. It'll take some time getting use to these improvements.
