I'm trying to decide on a theme for my new town of Biblios. The town name is inspired by the word bibliophile, which means book lover. I'm planning on leaving some dropped book items around the town and might add a second villager, who is a librarian. Other than that, I'm not too sure what to do with the town and am torn between the fairytale and zen themes.

Which do you think would be better for the sleepy town of Biblios?

why not go for a overall "classic" seires theme overall, which would do a pretty neutral PWP, but with heaps of cedar trees to make it feel cozy. Plain street lamps are perfect for that sort of vibe.

a zen-natural theme would be really good. make it feel really cozy and soothing

I agree with rosemarycrossing that a "classic" vibe would work. You could blend classic and zen; it's a pretty natural fit...no pun intended. x3

Home decor ideas:

book (the one that villagers sometimes lose)
book stands
cabana/cabin/classic bookcase
large bookshelf
ranch bookcase
sketchbook
stack of books
strapped books
library wall
heavy tome
museum floor
neutral floor
anything with a neutral/wooden coloration

Love this theme idea!

If Zen... then go rustic. Old library. Large bookshelf. Tattered old weathered books laying near the path. Weathered paper stationery.

If Fairy Tale... then be on the lookout for TBT user TheGreatBrain. Many of her towns have a whimsical fairy tale telling a story in their dream towns.

Or mix it up a bit! Maybe Julian the unicorn is in the middle of a very rustic woodsy town, covered in blue and pink roses. He could be inside the secret garden...

Please keep us all posted on your town! It sounds very exciting!

You could set the town to winter--make sure you have a street lamp--and it could also have a bit of a Narnia feel. There are goat villagers right, for a faux Mr. Tumnus?

The Fairy Tale Town Hall design is kind of similar to an Arabian castle, which made me think about perhaps incorporating an Arabian theme into your town. I haven't seen too many Animal Crossing towns based on that area of the world, so it would be fairly unique. It would also fit with your book theme, as Arabia was a hub of writing and science during the Middle Ages.

I studied fairy tales when I was studying narratives, and it could be an interesting idea to have a town incorporating it. You could have one villager to be the librarian --- like a keeper of the stories --- and represent a little bit of the stories. An Arabian theme to represent the 1001 Nights, which is one of the biggest fairy tales compilations; a underwater theme to represent stories like The Little Mermaid, The Golden Mermaid, the Undine and other sea-related stories; one for the Asian stories, there's plenty of them...And many classic and rustic themes for the Western and European stories.

Lobo is a perfect Big Bad Wolf with his cabin, Julian the unicorn is self-explainatory, maybe Ankha to represent the Egyptian mythology , a goat villager to represent the many fairy tales with goats (maybe Nan or Chevre?), Chief looks like more like a fox which is also either the protagonist or the antagonist of many stories. Blanche looks like a crane, which is symbolic in Japanese stories. Marple could be a cute Goldilocks and the bears reference (or even Snow-White and Rose-Red).

Thank you for responding. You guys came up with SO many great ideas and have given me a lot to think about.

I always associated the Fairytale theme with St. Petersburg of Russia, but I really like the Arabian idea and Ankha is one of my favorite villagers. Maybe I could add an Arabic villager, and my mayor could live in a fairytale castle.

Russia also has many cool fairy tales. I absolutely love the Baba Yaga and how she can be either a benevolent entity or a force to be reckoned. A cabin in the woods, with a mischievous witch inside...That would be a good alt account to play with. Maybe you could add the Dharma set (a mistranslation of daruma but....) and pretend they are matryoshka dolls?
The winter wonderland could also host stuff like the Snow Queen and other snow-related things.

Actually, there are matryoshka dolls in the game. You get them from Gulliver when his destination is Russia.

I love the name and all the ideas that have been suggested for your town so far. There are so many different directions you could take. I really like the idea of combining the themes and maybe doing an area with more of the fairytale pwps and an area with more of the classic and zen pwps.

If you decide on a Baba Yaga house, you need to heavily make use of the Harvest furniture! The little bird feet will be just like her house.
