Renders are front-ish or focus.

A render is a HQ/HD image cut from an original picture and has a transparent background added to it. Most people use it in signatures, other people use stocks.

A render is basically just an object cut out with nothing behind.

eg. If you took a picture of a car you'd have the car, and all of the other stuff in the picture. If you took that picture and cut everything out except the car it would then be a render.
