I hope this is in the correct section, sorry if it isn't ^^;
I decided to take my 3DS photos and transfer them to my computer. So I shut the system off and took the SD card out and placed it into my computer. I copy and pasted the images to my computer in a folder, and I deleted them off the 3DS, including the folder. But -only- the folder with images in it. Nothing else was tampered with. I ended up loosing all my downloaded apps, downloadable content, and spot/streetpass data. (Miiverse/Plaza was fine). My save data THANKFULLY wasn't gone because I usually only buy physical games. (tomodachi demo was the exception where I lost my save data since its digital download). I don't understand what did I delete ;~; I'm careful with these things, and I swear I only deleted the folder with a bunch of my screenshots in it. I didn't mess with the Nintendo folders, etc. I made sure to eject the SD card safely. Luckily I don't really care about my acnl streetpass homes, as I can always replace them with new streetpassers. And my downloadable content was saved within my account so I could just redownload it. I also had to reupdate all my games. But I just want to prevent this in the future. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks for any replies.

The only thing I can think of is you accidently deleted all saved data?The only way to delete photos off the 3DS is doing it in the app,I believe.

I just find it odd that the save data for streetpass/updates/dlc is merged with the image folders in DCIM. What the heck T.T I'll have to just delete images from the 3ds from now on.

Maybe you should have deleted all the photos from inside the folder instead of the whole folder itself. That's what I usually do and I've never had any problems.

It does seem very strange though. Thanks for the heads up, from now on I'll back up all my folders before clearing any photos and I'd advise everyone else to do the same to be safe. I'm glad it wasn't a huge problem for you :)

Yeah it seems like a bad idea that you deleted the folder. Not saying it's a fact in your case, but I've had times previously where if you delete a key item or link, even an empty folder, it can confuse the whole thing and mess it up.

yeah it needs to have the folder since the 3ds is programmed to make sure that folder is there

Thanks for the replies, I'll be more cautious next time. I assumed it would just create a new folder whenever an image is created, because that's what the iphone does if you delete the folder.
