What pokemon game should I get?

I'm going to buy a pokemon game since I've never played one in my life. Which pokemon game do you recommend?

I highly recommend starting out with either red/blue. That's where the series started and they're just amazing. Staright up pokemon adventure, no extra side gimmicks to try to sell sequels.

First get Emerald, then Platinum. When you transition to Platinum you'll notice that graphics are way better and that the bikes, running shoes, and walking shoes are way better, plus the battles and text speeds are faster. Emerald would be good because it was the last Pokemon GBA game and is compatible with more Pokemon DS games, while Platinum is the last Pokemon DS game to date.

You gotta be kidding me, Platinum is failure, Red/Blue and Gold/Silver were WAYY better, but it is your opinion.

Play Red/Blue.

I say Blue, it was the first one that I played, and it was amazing. Plus, its a lot less complicated and easier to play, due to the simpler mechanics. I've heard that G/S/C were possibly the best games in the series, but I've never played em sadly. Plus the fact that almost all G/S/C games's have no save function now-a-days, though you might get lucky.

I suggest you get Red or Blue to start with, maybe even Yellow, then go to the 3rd gen with
R/S/E to get used to the improvements, and finally break into 4th/Current gen as an expirienced player. This all depends, of course, if you like the first game you play. ;D
