What normal things can you not see the same way after playing AC?

I now think/ react in reactions. I need a reactions board for texting, but also for my real life emoting. (Send help, haha).

I also look at actual pictures of gardens and think about the layering and staging and how I could create a similar effect for my island.

plus I want to use my sewing skills to make villager plushies instead of clothing, quilts, and home items.

I’m so obsessed.

Mostly just bugs, fish and art. If it weren't for AC I wouldn't have the foggiest what a red snapper is, or a sea bass, or crawfish, etc. In fact, because AC was my first exposure to some creatures, I learned to call them by their AC names rather than by the names my local dialect assigns to them. Specifically, "pill bugs" are apparently called "roly-polies" where I live, and "crawfish" are instead called "crayfish."

In WW, Blathers was the first to inform me of the existence of the archaeopteryx, the dino-bird. My critterpedia at the time also informed me that cockroaches have been around for 300 million years. Terrifying.

NH specifically has taught me about the existence of hyacinths and windflowers. Recently I looked up cosmos and discovered they are not daisies, albeit somewhat related.

And this actually goes a little in reverse, but I took some art history classes early on in college and that knowledge has helped me identify a few real artworks without looking up the guide. I was so proud of myself...

I can't look at pansy flowers without thinking of Animal Crossing because I never really saw them before playing.

Also whenever I hear a harmonica my mind is immediately flooded with thoughts of City Folk.

We usually watch a show on Dutch television where three couples visit and judge each other's B&Bs. The furniture of the this couple immediately stood out to me. It's a bit of a dark/blurry screenshot, but it's the diner table, diner chair and box sofa, definitely! Which I guess also shows how well the furniture is actually designed in the game: It really does look like the 'real life' stuff!

Another one that's changed is that I realized this summer I'm way more attentive and noticing a lot more insects buzzing around outside. I even sometimes missed a net to capture them, and a museum to store them in :)

My wife said my bottle of testing strips (BSL blood sugar) was almost empty, and she'd get me one from the cupboard.

I'm playing the game and in my in-game house, and said: "Don't worry, I'll get one out of storage".

Whenever I see a spider in my house, I hear the swoop of the big net. I wish. LOL.

Not AC, but when my kids were younger and playing SimCity, they would point out the zoning around town.
Whenever I see a spider I look for two more for a model. :D

I'll see really cool places out in public and recreate it in my island-- peoples lawns, public gardens, cafes and outdoor seating areas to name a few

I definitely pay more attention to furniture details now! It's really cool, and I sometimes categorize them into the (limited) ac sets they would fit best into aha.
another thing is gardening! I recognize certain flowers immediately, like hyacinths cx also really like the look of cypress trees and hedges irl

I notice people's lawns and backyards now. If I see one I like a lot, I'll think of ways to copy it into my game. My Mom's fav flower is a hydrangea so we have them on our front and all I picture is them in game.

As someone who's been playing animal crossing since wild world when I was 7 , I have an interest in bugs which I don't think I would have had otherwise- especially cicadas which I didn't actually realise we're not just made up in animal crossing until I visited France in summer for the first time. I also really love this game/anime called Higurashi which has a lot of cicadas in it and set in a small town and I really can't unrelate the show to animal crossing in my head because of that baha.

Also ANY building that looks EVEN SLIGHTLY like the museum from any of the games I point out to my sister if we're together. (I think she hates me now)

And citrus trees, especially in hot countries? I mean I know here in the UK there are citrus trees but the atmosphere of seeing fruit trees in hot countries some how really vibes in my head with animal crossing. -Like I was once visiting some gardens with a lemon tree and mind immediately went ahhhh just like animal crossing

I realised my some of my aunts flower's were Pink Cosmos. I just had to ask about taking one home so I could try irl gardening. I expected the rain to help grow them, but I learnt that heavy rain will do the same to a Cosmos as running through a flower patch in game 😧 I keep losing the flower petals.

Watering cans, any sort of super famous art piece, raccoons (I know TN isn't a raccoon so nobody go off, he still looks like one tho), as well as like, any flower practically lmao.

Growing up — and even until now — if I recognize a bug or fish from in-game out in the real world, I'll think about how many bells I'd get for it if I caught it and sold it to Tom Nook.
