So I am thinking about resetting, but I am honestly not sure if I want to or not. When I first joined the forums, I wanted to make a Zen forest town. Then my plans to get a New 2ds XL fell through and I wasn't able to get the game right away. So my sister ended up using the Zen forest theme, but she's not as dedicated a player as I am and never played enough to unlock any of the PwPs. But my sister reset that town recently, and now all I can think about is how I'd rather have a sleepy Zen forest with a library hidden away instead of this odd fairytale pseudo-horror town with a really messed up back story (it's pretty bad, I admit). But I finally got my dreamie Beardo and that's keeping me from going through with it.

Are any of you in a similar situation? If so, what's keeping you from resetting your town?

All my stuff. Already had to like, track it down once when I reset because that map turned out to be more horrid than I thought and I had to get a new one. I mean I sold my catalogue and then I had to track down like all the rare stuff here, nty xD

My best friend plays along side me. If I reset, I'm a failure lol
Also I have Freya, Gladys, Phoebe, Cobb and Walker so yeah

Also my badges!!

Yeah the badges were a pain the ass to get back, lol. I still need the Weeding one I think :/ I guess I could get back all the villagers I would have wanted if I did another reset, but no not doing it again. I mean *knocks on wood* if the game would error out and delete stuff then it's one thing, but yeah.

My first town, Canaan, is four years old. I have all the villagers/items I could ever want, a complete museum/encyclopedias, and plenty of gold badges. My bank has millions of Bells and my house is fully expanded/paid off. Main Street is completed. The fact of the matter is that I'm proud of my accomplishments and don't want to erase them. Also, I really love my map layout and know I could never get anything like it again.

Update: I decided to get an appraisal to see how much my town is worth, and apparently I haven't been playing long enough to sell. So that's salt in the wound and kinda another reason not to reset since I hate beetle farming. Although I'm gonna have to beetle farm to pay off the rest of my house(s) anyway....

I wouldn't reset simply because I've put too much time and effort into my town. I had taken a long hiatus and come back after the update, so was fortunate not to have a complete disaster or lost villagers, but I changed the layout in certain ways. It took time, bells, and a lot of digging and replanting, but I'm glad I stuck it out.

I'd have hated to have lost all the items, progress, and memories of my town (although not having Rocket hanging out on Main Street is a tempting argument for reset).

I'd suggest charting your town out on graph paper or in a spreadsheet and see what the possibilities are for redesigning it to match your new vision. It might not be as impossible as you think. :)

mostly how much time and effort I put into my town and game! it;s like a memory basically and i just can;t destroy memories! good luck if you do redo your town! ( :

I have reset so many times but with my current town I decided I needed to break that habit. I found my absolute ideal map so I wouldn't find flaws in it later, and I've been working on it ever since. At this point I have put way too much time and effort into it that I can't possibly reset. Tons of hybrids, rare items, villagers and all. I think at this point I'd just get another cartridge if I'm feeling the urge to start from scratch again. Try relandscaping, that has been a great way for me to feel like I'm starting over without actually doing so.

All of that progress i made so much ive done lol

You can still change your town theme and reset your town with keeping your file.

I've done it before. ;)

I highly considered resetting my town a few months ago but the one thing holding me back was that I love all of my villagers!! If I made a new town, I would just want all the same villagers in it, so why go through the work of getting them all back when I could just keep my town?

Q: What Keeps You From Resetting?

A: What keeps me from resetting my town is by not playing the game too often. Sometimes I feel tempted to reset my town the more often I play. Usually when I feel like I accomplished enough for a town that I have then I just reset my town and the cycle repeats. At the moment... I put my town to rest and play other 3DS games.

I reset/restarted my town once. After seeing how nice my wife's map was, I grew very unsatisfied with my layout. Lol. It kept eating away at me, and finally, I decided to start over. Granted, I had only been playing for about 3 weeks so I didn't lose a ton. I didn't bother selling my town - didn't play long enough anyway. Luckily I had my wife's town, so I painstakingly transferred all my treasured items, golden tools, and IGBs to her town. Then took them all back once I unlocked the secret storage.

I think it really depends on how willing you are to really start over. The idea can sound fresh and exciting, but it's really hard work. Getting all the badges again. Getting Club LOL to open again to get those expressions again. It was rough in the beginning, but honestly, I'm so glad I did it. Because now I don't have any urge to reset. I'm developing my town and enjoying gameplay.

Right now I'm doing a challenge, forget what it's called, but basically it was to start a new town on January first and keep it until next year Jan. 1st. and see your progress. Used to be a habitual resetter until I started this so I'm determined to stick with it and see how far I can get this town in one year.

I can't stand my map and it never clicked that when I started playing I could just restart without saving and pick another one so on some days I feel the urge to start fresh, but all of my villagers I've obtained are ones that I love and adore! I would hate to have to start all over and not have them.

I bought a second game and used that to get a town with a better map that I can do really awesome and creative landscaping things with and keep my other town because I love those villagers and it's still fun to do things with them and around the town, like getting the badges and filling the museum and interior decorating.

I've had my town for 4 years now and it's nearing completion. I couldn't possibly restart.

Same! I figure even though resetting would allow me to fix some things about my town I'd like to change, having all my favorites in one town makes me happy enough to not want to. Plus I'm kinda enjoying the challenge of not working with an optimal map.

Also my town's only a few months old, but already I've managed to unlock/collect so much, I can't imagine having to do this over again. I'm determined to play this town until the next main game comes out at least.
