What keeps you from having guests over to your town?

I'm redoing my town and there's a rafelsia because I have no trees. D: And it's been taking me the past month.
 
I'm too shy and it is too hard to type, I feel all pressured and stressed out. I've had people over before to let them go fishing and catch bugs and that is fine because they are busy and I don't have to talk. :]
 
Mainly because I'm worried they'll steal/ruin my hybrids, chop down my trees and just generally make a nuisance of themselves.
 
I have hybrids around my time so I'm worried about them getting trampled/stolen. So far I've had that happen twice, even after I told that one visitor to not take any flowers. Plus I'm really shy so I don't type much when someone is over.
 
I had no problem with people visiting before but I have a lot of clover/lucky clover now and people keep picking it. I guess most people just see it as a weed.
 
I'm mostly worried that if i wifi with anyone I'll end up with an unexpected villager from their void pool

Plus the chat is too hard to use properly so it ends up just being awkward unless it's someone irl who's sitting next to me (aka just my brother)
 
I don't let people in my town because I don't trust people. Sad but it's true. I've read about people who have people come into their towns and pretty much destroy everything or steal things and I know how easily pissed off I get, so I'd rather avoid it. I don't want someone to come in and mess up all my hard work. It's the reason why I will pretty much never trade or giveaway villagers or anything like that.
 
My town is mostly hybrids. I also have stuff on the ground I still need to organize. It's hard for me to trust people to come over and not run through my hybrids/take my things. I've done some trades in my town and I dislike when people leave the train station. I've had someone come over and run all around my town...

thats so weird :x even when i was brand new i knew not to leave the train station :/
 
I'm slightly ashamed of my town's appearance and I'm very paranoid. I know horror stories tend to be a minority, and that a lot of players are really lovely people, but I don't wanna risk it, so I'm only comfortable with people visiting for trades. The only exception are my friends, though, they're welcome to stay forever.
 
My first town is a private town with only a few friends visiting. My villagers were so excited to get visitor. I now make sure to send my other mayor in to visit them a lot.
I do open my gates to my easy going town and my harvest town. When people first visited I had Gracies but very little trees or bridges. At the time I had removed all the trees to make it easier for snowman building. Opened it for Pave Day and it was easier to catch the feathers. The town now has a big orchard,PWP,pathways and lots of hybrids. I grow them for my friends.
For awhile the town had items all over the beach for free or for cataloging. I never had a problem with anyone taking the catalog items. During those times I would go out shopping while people visited.
I'm very lucky to have a good group of friends.
 
um im really worried about my flowers being taken or my bushes being dug up or someone stealing perfect fruit or trampling flowers so yeah im pretty paranoid

i just look at the wifi ratings of the person im trading with or inviting over and um
i also look at comments they leave like if they leave a comment like
"can i have this ill give you 200k" i wouldnt feel as secure
"um! could i please have this? i can give you 200k, is that ok?" but i feel welcomed somehow
 
I have the opposite problem lol... my town is pretty much complete and I'm afraid of people coming over and trampling/stealing hybrids and stuff :( (also I don't think there's anything wrong with a messy town!! I'm sure we've all been in that situation at some point lol)
 
My town is currently a mud pit. Previous grass wear + the rain is basically dissolving everything I have.

Only close friends can show up right now, and I don't really have anything anyone would want to take. So. Probably that.
 
I'm not really scared of anyone taking anything from me. Honestly, I'm always giving little gifts to the visitors I do have because I get excited and wanna make friends. (God, that sounds so lame.) I'm just kind of embarrassed by my lack of design sense. I have all these ideas and they're just not working. I have a TBD playdate with sunshinetea soon and I'm so excited to have a friend to hang out with but at the same time, my town is so ughhhhhh. I'm lucky my villagers are so damn cute or I'd torch the place, lol.
 
My town isn't completed yet, so my house is a mess ;^; I also need to complete a few PWPs, so I need to get more bells xD
 
I don't usually invite people to my town unless they're my friends or just coming to get a villager or trading. It sounds really stupid, but I just don't want people to go there xD I don't want people to talk to my villagers, cause it's soo annoying that all they're talking about is that I met someone from somewhere.. Also I have so many flowers that I feel like someones gonna steal them :D
 
I only really enjoy people visiting if we're either close friends or we play island mini games. That's it.
