For me it has been catching beetles and fish on the island at night. I'd love some new suggestions and ideas that I haven't tried yet 
What is your favorite way to make bells in the game?

I make most of my bells thanks to the turnip market! I also enjoy selling my extra hybrids ^-^

I want to get into turnips but I end up time travelling sometimes because I work really crazy hours
So when I get home at 4 am I cant do anything unless I change it to 9 am etc. And I know turnips rot if you time travel..

Also, I would just keep it the same time but I work all DIFFERENT hours and get home dif times. Thats why i need to time travel sometimes.
Selling all the junk I've accumulated in my closet.
Not because it's particularly profitable, or even convenient, but it's just such a huge relief to finally get rid of all that stuff and see some space in my closet. Best bells I've ever made.

I want to do that too! I have so much stuff, I'm thinking instead of just doing a giveaway to see if anyone wants what I have!
I like making trades with people on forums like this and selling all of my closet stuff + hybrids! Not as fast as turnips but still a great way to make money and meet people I love how different everyone looks and seeing cool town names and what not. It's also really random what people will ask for xD I always wonder why they want the stuff I'm selling.

I love creating different orchards! I love how you can get different fruit of the islands and also getting perfect fruit, it's also extremely profitable.

Island bug catching is the most profitable for me, but I don't go all the time 'cause lazy, so I remain poor. :'D Turnips is a good way too, but I haven't done it for 2 weeks now, because too busy and it's slightly tiring always having to remember to check prices in the morning during school.

Agreed. My whole town is an orchard (see?), and I really enjoy having a harvest every three days. It's a lot slower than beetles, which I just started trying a few nights ago, but it's a lot more enjoyable to me.
I've never been able to wrap my head around the stalk market (I get the basic principle but the method and appeal just aren't there for me), and while it may be much faster to catch beetles, my thumb gets tired from nudging the stick to walk slowly, and after a while I have a hard time staying awake while I hunt. And when the beetles just aren't appearing, it's just mind numbing.

First some context on where I am in the game (TLDR: bells are still a big deal for me):
- I've got one main character who is still about 3 million bells away from a fully upgraded house and one alt who is about 6 million away from a complete house.
- I someday hope to create two more alts so that 14 million for two houses.
- I estimate I'll need about 3 million more bells to build all the remaining PWP's I'd want.
- I'd also like a bunch of bells to buy dream villagers and rare items.
- I've got about 3 million bells in the bank.
- I just found out about how much fun selling and trading stuff is on this forum so my favorite method might change to that.
That being said, I used to farm island beetles (usual method cut down all but two palm trees etc.) but I found that my patience ran out at after one island trip a day (unless there was something I really wanted).
So right now what I do is only farm beetles when there is a Lazy villager in my campsite and then sell the beetles through the "guess which I want to eat" game. This usually gets me about 3 million bells before I feel like stopping.
It also usually also makes me feel vaguely guilty about fleecing the poor camper

I make the most money through the perfect fruit trade since I don't really have time to spend beetle farming and I TT too much for the turnip trade. I usually get around 1.5mil or so from that if the fruit is on premium. I'm a slowww money maker but it's fine since I don't buy a lot of expensive things.
