What is the first thing you do in your town when you first turn on ACNL for the day?

Check the mail and than walk around until I get a ping.

I always immediately go down to the beach to check my hybrids and see if any have spawned, and then I walk in front of every villager.

I actually rarely ever check my mail and I neglect to check it until it's completely full and Pete tells me off, haha.

Check the mail! After that I usually walk from my house toward main street and if something catches my attention on the way I deal w ith that, otherwise I go shopping.

I have three characters. My mayor I’ll check the mail, talk to everyone, dig up the fossils and ore, go to Katrina, hit the money rock, sell the stuff in my pockets, visit the shops. Then I go onto my other characters and talk to the villagers, go to Katrina, and then do the money rock. Whoever has wealth or items as their lucky thing that day, I choose them to shake the trees to get more money or get killer items. (When I had items as my lucky thing, I had a THRONE and a MOON fall out!!!)

Speak to the villagers I want to keep. Water flowers. Run over paths looking for inconsistencies. Check out Nook's Home for exterior stuff for my 3 mules. Check out Emporium and buy all seeds, bushes, saplings - then check for new KK song. I usually gather like 20 fossils and turn them all in at once, so that's not so much a daily thing for me.

Literally my least favorite feature. It's such a pain to read, remove the present, toss the letter, then open the present. It shouldn't be a four step process to receive items from the mail ~_~
