What is the first thing you do in your town when you first turn on ACNL for the day?

Check the mail then go find the fake rock and fossils for the day, then i'll go check the hybrids and talk to any villagers I see along the way c:

I usually check the mail box, but as im so awful with sending letters i hardly get any. XD
Then i do the daily things around town, check fossils, water hybrids, chat to villagers etc

I actually have a list of "chores" I do every day.

- Harvest Fruit (if there is any) and sell it
- Save one basket of my Perfect Peaches and sell the rest
- Pull Weeds (not too often with "Make Sunshire Beautiful". Also no roaches! Yay!)
- Dig up fossils, roids, pitfalls, etc. Assess fossils and donate new ones. Sell doubles.
- Sell roids and pitfalls. Check Police Station for items and check in with Booker.
- If Booker has news, check out the Plaza.
- Buy from Redd (using wiki to find the real art) or get fortune from Katrina.
- Update Dream Code (and get 5k Bells to boot!)
- Water all flowers.
- Redo my hair if need be.
- Find the money rock (if you dig holes around it, it will stop you from sliding backwards and you can just spam it to get the max!)
- Break the ore rock. Sell the ore.
- Check out Retail for items.
- Check out Nook's Homes for new designs. Expand house if able.
- Check out TYI for music and furniture. Buy medicine and fortune cookies/event items.
- Buy flower seeds from Leif.
- Check out Able Sisters for new duds, and browse Kicks as well.
- Check the museum shop.
- Put Nintendo Themed items from cookies in my exhibit.
- Talk to every villager.
- Do villager requests and such.
- Give Dr. Shrunk a snack and learn new emotion.
- Update TPC.
- Check satisfaction.
- Donate to/start new public works project.
- Deposit at least 1k Bells into ABD.
- Pay off at least 1k of debt (if any).
- Go to the island (reasons vary).
- Write a bulletin note documenting the events of the day.
- Relax and have fun in town.

Of course, this doesn't have to be done in order, and there are more things to be done than this. I just like having a list of things to do to make it seem more like I'm actually managing the town rather than living as a resident with extra privileges.

Like most others have said; I check my mail first because I usually have mail every day and when I don't I'm always slightly saddened xD

But, I have a lot of bamboo so I have to go through my town each day to make sure it doesn't take over.

check my mail, put any presents into storage (i hoard items), talk to the villagers i like and hope that the ones i dont like would just move out already, hunt for fossils

Check the mail (not that I'm interested to even read it), then check the villagers one by one so that I'd know who's planning to move.

i also check my mail and talk to my nearby villagers. then i'll go shopping and get a new haircut and stuff then i come back and talk to my villagers some more. sometimes i remember to go to club lol and get a new emotion.

I always check the mailbox, then go to look for fossils and water my flowers. And that's it, the rest of the routine is random -w-

I look for fossils.. even though my fossil collection is already complete :')
I also look for weeds to pull! Basically I just walk around my town making sure everything is as I left it the day before.

I run down the beach real quick to see if Gulliver is there.
Check the plaza for Redd
Get the ping
Then I check both camp and rv site
then I check what timmy and tommy have

I visit everyone to search for any pingers and visit everyone. Then I landscape, go to the shops and just run errands after that.
