What is steam?

Short: A place where you can buy and talk/play to/with friends while playing PC video games

It's a digital game distribution system where you can also play with friends

Essentially xboxlive/psn for PC. Only consoles don't have steam sales among other features!

Steam is an application for buying, downloading and installing games. You've heard a lot of people talk about it recently because of their famous Summer Sale which is currently on its last day. Many games were reduced by up to 90%, taking them down to prices mostly below $10.

Steam is the technical term for water vapor, the gaseous phase of water, which is formed when water boils. Water vapor cannot be seen, though in common language it is often used to refer to the visible mist of water droplets formed as this water vapor condenses in the presence of cooler air. Strictly speaking, in terms of the chemistry and physics, true steam is invisible. At lower pressures, such as in the upper atmosphere or at the top of high mountains water boils at a lower temperature than the nominal 100 ?C (212 ?F) at standard temperature and pressure. If heated further it becomes superheated steam.

But for realsies, get it. If you've ever seen *shudders* EA Origin, then think that, but ∞ times better.
