What is so bad about them.

I was reading The Resetting Thread last night and there were countless posts by people saying they hate aspects of towns that I was actually looking for. It didn't bother me because that's the beauty of having so much variety in a game like this, you get to do things the way you want.

Not that there's anything wrong with enquiring though. There are reasons behind most opinions and sometimes you're just curious as to what they are.

They really don't like "big" villagers, which is odd since people don't like the bears even though some of them are adorable (Nate, you'll always be my best bud)
But the monkeys, why people hate them I have no idea.
Especially since we have Champ, Nana, and Shari, some of the best monkey villagers in the game.

I guess it's just a matter of preference. I've noticed most players (at least on TBT) like "cute" stuff in their games and those species aren't as "cute" because of their size and design. Personally, I don't think they're so bad.

Maybe because it's a community of people and not everyone is going to like them and there's hate everywhere.

I think it's size against cuteness.

I think most of them are Okay. I have Big top and Rocket on my town and apart that I don't find Rocket cute at all, she is a nice gal xD. Big Top for example I really didn't like the fact that he was wearing a green suit as a whole, now he is wearing a star tee and he really looks cute.

One of the reasons I am not on here much anymore is because of all the hate I see at times. I know I have based Marshal many times, but I stopped that. Anyway, the question I have is this. There are quite a few species I see that get a lot of hate. They are: Lion, Hippo, Monkey, and Gorilla. I really do not see what is so bad about these species. In fact I think they are some of the best character models in the game. Why do lots of people seem to hate them?

Sometimes people get so worked up over aesthetics that they must know why someone could possibly like a certain kind of villager. It is like: this villager or this species of villager is just so... ugly that you cannot possibly be honest about liking it, or maybe there is a 'bad' aspect to your character I can discover that explains why you would like it.

My answer to such a person: it is just aesthetic preference, and one that is not necessarily inferior or superior to yours.

When I first started I had violet and I loved her!
The hippos could be alot cuter but I guess they decided to make them have beards and eyebrows which makes them look wierd but beartha is really cute so..
Lions are awsome! I dont know who said that I think they look really cool I really like elvis
Who said that about monkeys!?!?! I have deli in my town and he is the sweetest cutest little thing!

Just personal references I guess. I adored Rory the Lion, but the monkeys in general I don't like. But I never had one in town either XD
And as much as I like some horses and dogs, there are also many horses and dogs that I don't like.

I adore the monkeys. I used to have Nana, and Champ has always been a dreamie of mine (albeit impossible to get just because monkeys are so underrated).

I think part of the problem is that there's a few poorly designed villagers in those species (i.e. Rocket and Elise), and they kind of turn people away from the species in general, since the cuter ones (like Mott and Nana) don't get any attention.​

Yes, I think Nana and Flip look adorable. And I think Shari may look happy-clown-like (and oozes 'peppy-ness' rather than uchi/big sister), but I think her design was well considered. At the least, I like how her rosy cheeks are matched by the inner ears, and how the yellow at the start of her tail is matched by the 'paws'/nubs and feet.
