Hi, I am new here.

I am still on my 2nd day of New Leaf and there still is nothing to do. I am waiting for tomorrow cooking festival, talking to the turtle, and reaching 100% major approval. Today and yesterday has been really slow and it does not help that the animal villagers are not really talkative like in Wild World. It feel really empty and lonely because of this. The villagers don't communicate with one another often and they are all too nice.

I got apples from Isabelle which is not my native fruit so I already planted them and waiting for them to grow so I can plant more. I want to visit other people towns so I can get the rest of the remaining fruits but I added random friend codes from random sites and none of them are online or still playing this game.

I have never play a single animal crossing game with other people. Back when I had Wild World, I did not have internet and lost interest in it quite quickly since it was my only game for my DS. I have very few friends and none of them own a 3ds so I know the experience won't be as pleasant as those who have real life friends, siblings, and/or parents to play with.

For those that do play online which I assume is the majority here, what is it really like? What can you do in other towns beside selling and trading? Can you actually talk to one another via mic?

Lastly, I plan on playing New Leaf every single day until the next one come out.

Here is my friend code 3325 - 6034 - 5183 in case anyone here want to add me.

It can be fun to play the island mini games with people! I don't think you've unlocked the island yet but that's good stuff to do.

Most people on this site are pretty nice. On the left below the user information is a wifi rating. People rate each other after interactions. It's not a perfect system but it can give useful information.

There's a board just for visiting - the train station I think - which has people who wanna visit each other for various reasons.

Lots of people work hard on making their town perfectly decorated so they can show off.

Best of luck! And welcome to animal crossing new leaf and the bell tree!

After exchanging friend codes you can visit other towns and trade goods.
But when you open your town gate for other users some features are disabled.

Blathers won't accept donations, Isabelle won't let you use the chair or give insight about the town and Sable won't respond even after befriending her.

Villagers won't react to emotions if you learned any if there are visitors in the town and Cyrus will be always sleeping.

Just to name a few.

Even so, it's still possible to have a lot of fun, though it's a good idea having the island unlocked for tours with our friends.

I have a friend I met on another website and we enjoy hanging out. We use the in game chat, show each other little things we have done to our towns (new pwps and things) and I love to show her the new things I've done with my house. To me personally decorating my house is my favourite thing and I often remodel some rooms every few months or so. Everyone is different though so you might enjoy designing your town completely to your taste! We sometimes try out glitches or go get a coffee or watch K.K. Slider's performance. You can fish together, go bug hunting, show each other what you have donated to the museum, play island minigames, anything! Enjoying the little things is also a lot more fun with a friend. Like if you have an aurora or a double rainbow in your town you can enjoy it together and have a nice chat. <3

New Leaf encourages you to take it slowely though so especially in the first few days you will run out of things to do rather quickly. This is okay though. :) Just come back tomorrow, there will be new things popping up every day.

I used to have RL friends to play ACWW with, now it's just online friends. My RL friends aren't that interested in AC but that's fine. It doesn't make a difference at all, a friend is a friend and sharing the experience with someone is wonderful, no matter where you met them.

online is alright, for me i usually see little kids asking for free bells or getting into arguments with each other. it's fun to play minigames with people though & going to other towns (although people normally try to get in ur town & steal) & i actually made some good friends in the past and they were really nice to talk to so i like to go on when i'm bored

How about trying to plan out your town? It's quite nice to have everything organised.

I would love to visit other people town to get some ideas. I am not really quite sure what to expect or what people can actually do in my town and I'm hoping it be a pleasant experience.

Thanks for the welcome!
