What is a void?

I see people talking about "voids" all the time here on the forum. What are voids exactly?

Without going into too much detail, it's basically where villagers go when they move out.

Let's say Molly is moving out of my town and I didn't give her to anyone, she is now in my void and if I went to someone with only 9 villagers in their town Molly would move there from my void. If I go to a town that had 10 villagers my void will clear and Molly won't go to someone's town that I visit

Pretty much. Also works the same way around if you're having someone in your town and someone with 9 villagers visited, then they might get him/her.

So yeah if you don't want random move-in be careful.

Well, voids don't concern me TOO much as I tend to just let things happen as they do.
