Now I know everything I should reset for but the location of the plaza, town hall and retail. Where are nice locations and where you aim your three facilities to be?

I prefer the Town Hall out of the way, so usally at the train racks or sides of the town.
Retail either close to the station (for trades/turnips/perfectfruits) or close to the docks (for easy islandbug selling).
The Plaza should preferably be the centerpiece of town, so in thr middle, though I also don't mind if it is at the sides, as long as I can plant bushes and trees round it.

Not that my current map has any of these xD I reset for two full days and this was my result.

I went with this mal because I wanted this specific waterfall. It is crooked, so it really looks great and is broader than the normal waterfalls.
It was quite rare to find it, without the river being too windy or without a villager on the place I wanted my house.
Plus, this map came with the brown train station roof (my favourite), peaches (acceptable fruit), and my favourite villager Fang <3

The buildings locations are not optimal, but fine. I like the Town Hall near the Plaza, and there is enough space around it for me to decorate. Plusside is that the plaza is north, so I can put cedar trees there for Christmas.

Retail is neither close to the station nor the docks XD But the way the town is developing it becomes more like a little store jn the middle of the woods where my villagers live.

There are things you are able to live with or find new ways to enjoy the location :)

I like your map!

I imagine the Re-Tail looks cute amongst the other villager houses.

For me, if it is going to be a side waterfall, I want it to be crooked like Melyora mentioned - not being able to see the final waterfall is super annoying over time.

Have you looked at "Post Your Town Map"? There are some really good ones lately. I prefer having the Town Hall near the Town Tree, it just feels cozy, but it doesn't always have to be that way.

If you do a lot of trading having Re-Tail to the North is really convenient. If not, then having Re-Tail closest to the beach ramp is the best! I got really lucky with one of my maps - I'll have to post it sometime.
I once had a town that had a center Town tree, Re-Tail and Town Hall all really close to one another. It was super convenient.

Of all the resets I've done in the past 6 months, there has only been one time that I saw the map and instantly fell in love with it.

Sometimes you just can't see a great map right away. If I feel like I kind of like it I play for one day, sleep on it, and look at it again and evaluate if I really like it or not.

Good luck on your map!

In Unicoira, everything is near the train station except the town hall which is in the middle and right in front of the waterfall (the one thing I don't like about that layout).

In Starfall, I aimed to have Re-tail a bit closer to the dock so that I could unload bugs and fish from the island a bit faster. The Town Hall is right behind Re-Tail which is not ideal either, but it's better than being in front of the pretty waterfall.

Look! This Got A Title, But It Obviously Doesn't Need One

I usually like to have everything right by each other, such as on my current town here :

I also really want everything partially close to the train station which it is on my map, tha's why I chose this map.
Also on this map, the town hall is STRAIGHT above the plaza, I mean like the tree lines up with the door on town hall, which I REALLY like! :D

I wish I could have my Re-Tail in the central/southern area of my town so I can sell island bugs faster. I chose a map which had it in the north.

I think it would be cool if the town plaza/square was in the centre of my town, with the town hall nearby.

Personally, I like a centralised plaza - depending on other factors, it can reduce available space for pwps and landscaping, but I just think it looks nice! Kind of appropriate, to have the town tree right in the middle.

My town hall lies at the northern edge of my town, to the left of the train station. It's good to have it there as it's sort of out of the way and doesn't take up too much space, but still really easy to access.

As for Re-Tail, mine is quite close to my own house, which is pretty convenient. But I would have liked it to be closer to the beach/dock, for more convenient selling of island spoils. (: If you don't go to the island much, though, I imagine that having Re-Tail near the railway crossing would be good.
