I was looking at my avatar, and then I also thought about how I've seen some cool and cute original character villagers online. If Animal Crossing: New Horizons allowed you to create one villager in Animal Crossing, almost like how you can create yourself in this game, would you do it? You'd also be able to change their species, color palette, clothes, personality, etc. at any given moment, too, just in case you wanted something else. It would definitely bring out villagers you couldn't find anywhere else. I don't see this ever happening, as it'd probably be complex. Still, I think it would be cool.

I think it would be cool if we were able to play as an animal.

Or, if we could make an animal that could be our roommate. Imagine sharing a house with a villager. I don't know, I think it could just be a cool idea.

It's funny you mention being roomies. My brother visited Marshal one day and Marshal asked him if he wanted to move in. Of course that's not possible, but that would be cool to see happen. Animal Crossing: College Life. 😅

I'd play as a pink squirrel if I had a chance. If we're playing as animals I hope we're able to choose voice pitches like (i.e Peppy voice, Normal voice etc.) and those voice pitch will change the way you respond to other villagers (like you'd have energetic responses if you chose Peppy or snobbish/straightforward responses if you chose Snooty etc.)

I didn't write it out, but pitch definitely came to mind afterwards. I guess I'm so used to the human villagers not having voices that it slipped my mind. I like that you mentioned voice pitches determining the responses you'd have with other villagers. That's a really good idea.

I don't think I'd play as an animal given the choice simply because of the more limited clothing options that I doubt they would update if by some miracle this would be a thing. Goodbye pants forever.

However, please let me have an animal roommate

I’d love if Blanca made a return and gave you the ability to use this feature! Even if not to be an animal, just to further design your villager completely! My villager would look like a blob because I am not artistic...but still.

I might also be reaching just trying to find a reason for Blanca to return.

They'd probably make it possible for you to have pants, socks, and shoes if you could play as an animal. Maybe if we ask more, we can have animal roommates in the future. It would be a cool thing to see.

She was a character that came to mind when I was making this topic. She will be missed. 🥺

I miss making her look horrendous when I was 12 in the GC version and then seeing her randomly appear around the town later!

Your human villager DOES have a voice. It's when you type things out in the chat/textbox. They're just quiet when responding to the animals.
Though I wish they had the "personality" option to affect how you respond/act towards villagers to make your character a bit more fleshed out. Sure, it's a shell where you can self-project but I just like playing as my OCs lol.

If I could, I could create a male cranky deer that looks exactly like a tree, called Trevor.

I could also make a Pinata horse villager named Fiesta.

(I feel like i'm the only one that actually knew what the OP meant)

It's been so long since I played Animal Crossing on the GameCube. Did she ever know if you gave her a nice face or not? I remember her making a comment along the lines of "beggars can't be choosers". xD I wish we could draw on her face again. What if they had intended to allow people to play as animals in the first game and she was a test model, but they ran out of time and just left her in there for people to draw her face on?

Now that you mention it, they do have a voice. I had completely forgotten about that. But yeah, I like your idea on personality affecting the responses and actions. That would be cool if they added that little detail in the next game or something.

I think I know what the OP means too!! I would make a cranky dog (but I would make her female!) and would make her a dog, in honor of my own pet ~ would love to add real breed dog traits like pointy ears or fuzzy snout <3 I would try to make her like a schnauzer

Dude, those are really good ideas. Do you draw by any chance? Not asking for any art. I just would like to see these come into fruition. One thing that I have a difficult time coming up with are trying to base names around the villagers aesthetic.

Well, sure. But their true voice lies in New Leaf when you're dreaming a town or at the Happy Home Showcase.

Well, no. But I do have a few art commissions of the two, though they're stashed away in this forum and It's too much hassle to dig deep in the museum board.
